unlimited aftermarket parts. I ran one for 10 years, didnt clean it once and it ran just as good as the day I bought it. I dont advise anyone to do that but it just shows how good of a gun they are...lol

i dopped another $50 into my 10/22 last week and the g/f likes to shoot it more than any other gun i own. IF something breaks on the 10/22 you can upgrade it for fairly cheap with all the aftermarket parts out there

Marlin is also a good quality gun too

My boys each have one and they have been wonderful over the years. We just upgraded one to an Archangel kit and the boys love it to death.

10/22 is an awesome little gun but I don't have any experience with the marlin.

dont have any experience with a 10/22 but i wish i did. heard nothing but great things

i have shot my friends marlin(idk what model) semi-auto .22 and seen them at academy for $150 and its a great gun. i dont think he has ever cleaned his either because i do remember one day when it was jamming like every 3 rounds but i think it was really old shitty ammo.

probably cant go wrong with either but if the money aint there get the marlin or hold out and save a little longer for the 10/22:D

With out a doubt, the 10-22. Getting your girl a 10-22 is like getting her a Tacoma. She is going to love it and you will get to mod it out :D

    Ruger 10/22.

I've watched hundreds of 10/22's literally throw a thousand rounds down range over a weekend and not skip a beat. Then I've seen them come back and do it all over again. My personal 10/22 has been through that type of weekend 5 times.

I'm an instructor for an outfit called Project Appleseed. We teach marksmanship skills and talk about the events of April 19th, 1775 over a full two days. During those two days I am with anywhere from 5-50 students, most who have 10/22's.

There are a bunch of Marlin 795's that show up too and they do just fine. The only thing I don't like about them is that the mag sticking out of the bottom of the rifle gets in the way of a good shooting position. I also think the stock is way smaller and uncomfortable.

Also, ENDLESS possibilities for mods on the 10/22 :)
