i have a base 09 with the the back up cam on the tail gate handel... and thats it... didnt come with the video rear view... my question is, is it wired all the way in the cab so when i hook my touch screen up they can tap into the camera harness and get the camera working? Just wondering because i was told even though my truck didnt come with fogs it was still wired for them, but it isnt.... thanks for any info.

weird. maybe it's the rear view mirror that doesn't have video?

Yeah I would bet that you have to buy a rear view mirror with a camera screen:

    http://www.autoanything.com/mirrors/61A3727A0A0.aspx

Then have it wired to work with your camera. I doubt they included the camera and the rear view mirror with screen, but just didn't wire them together.

    Good looking truck though!

EDIT: I read the question wrong, therefore I answered wrong. You already knew this info. Sorry I can't help you more, lol.

IIRC, the wiring is all the way to the mirror and all you need to do is ocnnect it to the mirror w/ the screen in it.

in this case, you'll have to tap the wires at the kick panels or headliner and throw on an RCA w/ extension to reach the unit. i was going to do this w/ mine, but my stock camera is useless now w/ the tire carrier on the back. going to either move the camera to a useable location or get another camera mounted where i want it and run the RCA back to my screen as well.

Although I wish it had a delay of a few seconds before it shuts off when you take it out of reverse.

I was told camera package only came as part of the two TRD packages.

Is the camera wired into the truck or just on the tailgate? maybe the tailgate got switched from another to your truck before you bought it.

locate the short length of cable that comes out of the tailgate, if it's not connected to anything and you don't see the cable it's supposed to connect to you're SOL and the previous owner just put a newer tailgate on the vehicle.

    see Build page for details.
Check out this thread for instructions:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/30889-oem-camera-connection-below-dash.html

I also have the base model with review camera but no video rear view mirror. But, the truck does have all the wiring for the camera and appears to be hooked up to the camera as well. The truck even came with a blocked off connector to cover the tailgate camera connectors for if I ever remove the tailgate. Check your glove box, you probably have the connector covers too. It's in a bag with instructions.

I've already installed an AVIC z120 and have hooked up all wiring as described in the post, but the camera does not power on when placing the truck in revers. I'm pretty sure all I need to do is add a 6v dc power source to the camera. On trucks with the rear view camera mirror, the power source is in the rear view I guess. You can create and install your own 6vdc power source as outlined in the following post:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/149448-noob-help-backup-camera.html

I just haven't done it yet because it's not high on my priority list right now.

I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.

It's awesome for hitching up a trailer. Doing it solo was a pain in the ass and trying to have my wife guide me was even worse. Now it takes less then a minute. No matter where you hook the screen up the camera is awesome.
