Trail Damage :(

UPDATE: page 3, # 59, pics



Well title says it, just figure i would share my story, havent really been on in a while.

So basicly i bottomed out on a section of the trail pretty bad, i saw it coming too, just didnt think it was gona b so bad.

My bumper got pushed up so much it poped out my left tailight and broke off the two screws that attach to the truck, and the bracket that holds the towing wire harness got bent up.


My problem is im not sure which way i should fix it

1) buy a new/used matched bumper and fix my body damage

2) buy a new/used tubed bumper and cut off my body damage


I know it might be easier and cheaper to do the tubed bumper way but i also like my matched bumper, it just gives it the soild color look thing, i dunno but whenever i see another SWB with a chrome bumper, it just looks wrong, likes its outta place or sumthin.

But if i do the tubed way, my front end might look werid bcuz of the added ground clearence in the rear, plus the front end is the stock bumper so i dunnno if it would look funny with only tubes in the back.

oh and by cutting off the body damage, u kno how some ppl cutt off the rear bottom of the bed sides behind the tires to give it the clearence or prerunner look. Thats what i meant by cutting off, i just dunno if i will regret it later.

so if anybody has any suggestions, questions, experience or insight or maybe even offers , ill b here or around here lol

 

honestly.... if it were me i would leave it... it doesnt look too bad? or maybe im blind haha

 

All else fails plasti dip that sucker...

depends on if your plan on trail riding alot, if you dont i would say get just another bumper.

but if you wheel alot i would get the tube or plate bumper.

i would def fix it either way, but im kinda OCD on my stuff and making sure everything is perfect haha

yea it seams like it in the pictures, but if u stand back and look at my truck, my bumper is totally bent, the bedside damaged happen months ago and isnt big, but it always bugs me

yea me too kinda, yea i do, buts its not just trails tho, i hav friends that live on acres of land and they hav dirt roads, plus i live in santa clarita, im always looking for new trails and exploring unpaved roads. Plate bumpers are nice, i would go that way if i was 4x4, thats why im staying with tubes if i do go that way

yea, if i do the tubed it will be kinda a high clearnce, kinda like the one in this pic, it would be similar to this

 

If your gonna keep wheeling like that, get a good solid off-road type bumper whether its a tube or full style.

 

^^^^ agreed. Look at ATO. His bumpers are amazing

 

Duct tape. Keep an extra roll in the glove box.

And...you can get it in blue.

 

i just saw the ATO one, thats ones nice, plus it would completely solve my bedside damage, wonder how much more it weights than the OEM bumper

hi-clearance... because the next time it happens your gonna kick yourself in the a$$ if you just buy a color matched bumper again...

 

yea, i also want a good sturdy solid one that isnt just looks or whatever, plus it was a new trail, and it was night, but i wasnt hauling ass or anything, i was actually going really slow, it was on a downhill part of the trail and it had a dip, kinda like a V, or a huge step or sumthin, on the way up it was cake, but on the way down was a different story bcuz of the approch angle

Go with the high clearance wrap around bumper. If you go with another stock you might end with this damage again.

 

Its just my opinion, im kinda hoping i damage my rear bumper that way it will be easier to convince the wife i need a relentless bumper

I had the same problem but I had no choice but to go forward and when I did my bumper hit a tree root which pushed the bumper up and smashed my tail light. I'm hopping to get a new high clearance bumper but that damn tail light cost me 250$. I just pushed my bumper down there pretty weak

 

yea, but i dont like the wrap around ones, i see where its useful for protection and stuff, but it will hide my bedside damage a lil, if i went wrap around i would just go with a plate one like the ATO one, plus it kinda seams like they would bring the bushes with me, some trails i go on get tight with brush and stuff, but on the other hand when i go back it will be wider
