    Hey guys,

Do you think there would be any issue hauling 950lbs worth of particle board in the back of our Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab long bed 5AT? Sorry, I know this seems like a dumb question, but it will be my first time hauling anything heavy in the bed.

Need it for grad prank tomorrow... I believe the max it can carry is 1000lbs in the bed. Will only be hauling it for about 10-15 miles. Provided I take it slow I shouldn't have any issues right?

And when loading it (it's on a skid), should we push it towards the front of the bed or the rear?

    Thanks!

You will probably bottom out on bumps if you havent gotten the TSB done.

Push it all the way to the front of the bed. I see you're in Canada and I hear you already have the heavier leaf packs stock up there so it should handle it. It might still hit the bump stops on a big bump but you'll be fine if you take it easy.

I haven't looked into the TSBs, I know there are a few, but the one you are referring to has to do with adding a 4th leaf to the rear suspension, correct?

I'm pretty sure that I read that all Canadian Tacos come with 4 leafs.

If this is true, should I be fine? I'm going to search to verify that all Canadian trucks come with 4. If you are referring to another TSB please enlighten me!

He was talking about the leaf spring TSB and you should already have the upgraded set. Count your leafs and you'll know in a hurry.

You should be ok. Take it slow. I had that much weight for about 10 miles on my all pro leafs with no overload leaf. It squatted but sat fine.

I hauled 1120 pounds of concrete mix in the back of my 5-lug a couple weeks ago with no problems. The back end was riding way low but it was it wasn't on the bump stops. I assume six lugs have beefier leaf springs and shocks, but what do I know?

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll go count the leafs to verify.

Since it is such a short trip I may ask the guy if he can just split the stuff in half, and take two trips.

Payload of the truck is advertised as 1295 lbs

But remebr the Payload = The weight of occupants, equipment and cargo that a truck transports.

If you have the 3 leafs you will most likely be on hitting the stops.

You do have the 4 leaf pack unless you bought an American truck .

950 lbs is quite a bit , you will probably be fine but if you can split the load it would be better .

Thanks for all the advice and stats guys.

It will definitely be close to (or AT) the limit. I'll let you know how the truck rides. I'm assuming I will be going slow due to having to pick it up during rush hour, so I should be fine.

I'll be sure to get picture as well.

Payload is high 1200s. Depending upon your weight as the driver, you should be within spec without any passengers. if you do add passengers, though technically over capacity, you'll still probably be fine.

And it will ride fine, but it will ride fine like a loaded vehicle does. You will take longer to get up to speed. You will need increased braking distance.

After owning my truck about a month I went to the local plant nursery and got thirty 40lb. bags of potting soil for my mother. That's about 1200lbs. I weigh about 160. All told, the truck was slightly overloaded. It did fine.

Edit: This was before installing my lift or any other suspension modifications. I'd probably make two trips now, because armor is eating up about 250lbs. of my payload, and larger tires already decrease my braking efficiency.

Thanks, I will definitely be keeping braking distance in mind.

I've cleaned pretty much everything out of the truck. It will just be myself (roughly 200), a buddy (who is about 150) and the stuff. Obviously won't have the bed extender or tonneau with me. All in all I think I'll be a little over (assuming that the guy has the weight of the boards spot on) but again, it's a short distance, and I'll just take it really slow.

Meh, being a couple hundred pounds over won't hurt the truck. Engineers do build in a margin of safety.

Just don't go putting a full ton in the bed and you'll be fine.

it's a truck fer chrissake just do it! But remember it won't handle worth crap and expect serious jolts as it bottoms. It'll be just fine.

    center load directly over axle.

pft i put that much weight in my old 01 4door short box and hauled for two hours, youll be fine mang, the trucks almost always can handle more weight than what the dealershit tells you. my tundra's bed cap is 1890lbs and the past two weekends i had easily over 2k back there of bricks bed box and sand, and i never even bottomed out.
