Hello I have an 07 prerunner and it has no power locks/windows. To the lower left hand side of the steering wheel are I think 4 black rectangles (presumably for people who got upgraded options) One of them has a little round blinking red light and I have no idea what it's for. Anyone have a clue? I read something about an engine immobilizer but from what I read there is supposed to be a picture of a red car blinking which this is not.

Probably a aftermarket alarm or just a blinking LED to make it look like it has an alarm

If you push it, does it click in and out, like a push on/push off switch?

I think this is part of the immobilizer system installed on some trucks.

    got a picture?

Sorry I'm kinda knew. How do you "bump". Also I attached a picture I found on the net and pointed to where the light is on my car. There is no alarm that I know of.

Does the led stop blinking when you start the car?

Maybe an alarm light or to make it look like you have an alarm if there's truly no alarm.

I have an aftermarket switch in that location for some lights I installed...most likely it's for an alarm that was installed.

Yes it stops blinking when I turn on the car. I don't understand why Toyota would go out of their way to install a non functional car alarm light. Seems like a waste of time and money.

No, I bought this last week from a guy who bought it from the dealership-used. He said it's all stock though.

I really doubt it's something Toyota installed.

Most likely the previous owner did it as a cheap theft deterrent.

Like painting a door on a wall next to the actual door.

Likely some mod, doesn't sound like a stock LED.

Probably no big deal, just don't go in reverse for more than 30 feet otherwise the brakes might seize up... just guessing. :)

used from used = someone could have added it. trace the wires to confirm, but it sounds like a real or fake alarm light.

Well for 1 thing, those 4 panels are extra panels for people who need to install aftermarket things that need swtiches. (subs, aftermarket lights, etc.). so this tells me that it most likely is a fake theft system. people buy little globes at auto stores that are mountable and blink red for thieves to see when they are about to break into your truck. its probably that.
