Random Suspension Idea

Alright this randomly popped into my head. People run 5100's with Eibach coils. And OME coils with Nitrochargers or 5100's. Has anyone ran Eibach coils with Nitrochargers? I've read 5100's stiffin after awhile, would there be any benefit to run eibach's with nitrochargers. Or is that a retarded idea because the nitrochargers are valved for OME coils? If it's a dumb question then just let this thread slowly disappear, if not then feel free to chime in on opinions lol. Oh and sry if this has previously been discussed.

 

I dont think anyone is running Eibachs on Nitrochargers. The Nitrochargers are specifically valved for the OME's and probably wont ride well on the Eibachs. But Idk for sure.

I've always wondered whether that whole "nitros are designed for OME coils" thing isn't more marketing hype than anything else.

The spring rate on eibachs (620/650#) is definately higher than any of the OME coils, from what I've heard. I suppose it is possible that the valving in the nitros might not work well with stiffer coils or maybe the spring perch might be too weak to handle ~600# coils.

It is an interesting idea though. You should try it, just to see how it works out.

That was my thoughts also, that the OME Nitrochargers are valved for much less spring rate. But on the same note, aren't the 5100's valved for stock coils?

 

Yeah, this is interesting, because the 5100s are designed for the stock progressive coils, right? Which are like 375 lb coils. OMEs are 500 lb linear, not progressive. I've never seen nitrocharger perches up close, but the 5100 perch/clip doesn't look extraordinarily robust. I would think the the valving and spring rating being as close as possible to each other would make the most sense for a better ride.

Scott, I think you need to try this. After all, you've been rather vocal about your 5100s not being as good as they originally were.

I am about to pull the trigger on nitrochargers for my 881s, and also some LR UCAs to fix the caster. Driving me nuts. I am waiting to see if I win the DSM coilover giveaway, and If I do, I'll sell 'em for the price of nitros and LR UCAs...

Who wants to buy some slightly used 5100s?
