I loved it. Really high speed training for really boring missions (usually). The problem with FAST, at the enlisted level, is it's only for two years. I'm not sure about the officer level, but we never had butter bars, only senior 1st LT's about to pick up Captain. No platoon commander under Captain usually, company CO a major. I enlisted to go FAST and then did the remaining 2 years in the fleet. I'm thinking you'll have to go infantry officer first, do a tour somewhere then request to be assigned to a FAST unit. We rolled heavy (about 50 per platoon as opposed to 40 in a normal fleet platoon) and had a wide variety of experience and expertise to draw on.

As far as I know, there are no reserve FAST units. Might want to check on it. The Corps has reserve Recon units, so they might.

thanks for the info. been doing research on-line and basically what i have found is what you just said. lets me know my info is correct. i still have about 1.5 years left of school, so i have time to figure stuff out. once i'm closer to getting done i'll go talk to the officer recruiters.

i didnt know it was only a 2 year assignment. that sucks
