Hey everyone!!! Anyone can help on this one. I recently got a front grill set for my truck and can't figure out how to remove that black back protection piece on the hood scoop. I have the scoop off of the truck but I just need help with that black back piece. Can anyone help me out?

I think there are 2 or 3 screws below the black piece and you have to unscrew those and then take out the screen, pull it out, and then reinstall that whole assembly . thats how it is on mine i think. Why are you going to take off the hood scoop?

Well I got a 5 piece billet grill set and I am stuck on just the hood scoop installation! I got the scoop in front of me but I don't see any screws. Just these 3 black plastic nubs. It looks like they are supposed to pop off but they are to flush with the hood scoop to get anything in between them.

Oh sorry thats what i meant was rivets, get like a putty or butter knife and just pry them away or try some pliers..... Are you trying to take out the black plastic insert in the hood scoop?

Yeah, that black plastic protection piece so water and debris don't get in. I don't need the screen to come out, just that back piece. Is that what your talking about?

yeah thats what im talking about. I believe if your looking straight at the scoop, the front of the scoop that is the painted plastic part, you have to some how take that off to get to the shield, and then take the putty knife or whatever and get the rivets out and it should pop out...

What are you planning on doing? sorry if you may have already answered this.

Jeez! Finally done!!! Yeah it ain't that easy getting the back piece off. Had to drill out those 3 black rivets. Thought they were plastic at first. I'm still going to have to seal it completely with some rubber cement after i paint it. This was just a installation test phase!:( Oh well, atleast I got it!:D

Oh like I said, I'm am just going to use some rubber cement or something else of that nature in the back to seal it off. That way I can still cut it out with a box cutter or something in case I want to take it off in the future.:D Water would always leak through there anyways if I got a car wash or if it was raining heavily. hey thanks for your help though!!!!

Yeah it popped out after I took those rivets out. It's funny though because the other grills were a piece of cake! Then that little hood scoop one pissed me off!!!!
