    Hey everyone.

I was thinking the other day what I could get for my truck with the economy the way it is. I have been thinking about getting a second gen for sometime now.

Anyway its an 04 ext cab taco trd prerunner with k&n cai, 265/70/r17 bfg at ko. tinted windows. upper and lower billet grill painted black. wind deflectors on four windows and bug deflector on hood. Tailgate was replaced with tailgate net. It only has 47,000 miles on it, mostly highway. Line-X spray in bedliner. All maintenance was done at the dealership to keep the tires for life program valid. decent aftermarket cd deck with sub and amp. No accidents. Engine is super clean and cab is clean. couple scratches and dents on doors but nothing crazy. Drives like any other toyota that has been taken care of. I bought it new and am the only owner.

KBB valued at somewhere around fourteen i think.. but no way i could sell it that much today. i was thinking somewhere between 10,000-12,000. is that too high? what do you guys think?

Why do you want a GEN2? That truck looks great and not even broken in with low 40k miles. Keep that truck!!

    Ya I know right.

I bought it late 04 and its almost paid off now. that would be an extra 450 in my pocket a month not including what I'd be saving from insurance.

You know how it is though. Lookin thru all the photos of peoples badass trucks on here...

But I could really use the extra room in a 2nd Gen Dbl Cab. But with this economy the smart thing woudld be to save up the money.

More than anything I guess I just wanted to know what would be a reasonable price to sell, out of curiousity.

I know truck will last forever. Maybe Ill just drop a supercharger in it or something ridiculous when its paid off. Something completely unneccasary. Kids these days right?

Your main reason for the post is what its worth....so I would say if I bought it new, low miles with no wrecks and almost paid for in todays economy, it would be worth $20,000 to me very easily. Sell for less than that and your tossing money out the door. That is a sweet ride and you know everything about it!

side note: pay it off, continue to make payments to yourself till the next big model change for the Tacoma, then put a nice down payment on a double cab of your dreams!...:D

If you don't mind my asking, what grill is that?

Also, I asked the same question a short while ago, got the same feedback. Pretty much that I'd be an idiot to sell mine and go Gen2...

That is a nice Taco, I too would vote keep it for now. Since you've had it since day 1 and know all about it, you might not want to give it up once you read about some of the Gen2 issues...my .02

Don't mind at all. Its one of those Billet grilles that are all over ebay. It came with the main grille and the lower grill. It was polished aluminum when I ordered it but I spray painted it black a long time ago and stuck the "T" emblem back onto it.

I don't think I'd ever sell my truck. I was more of less just seeing how much my truck is/would be worth to someone else that knows about toyotas ya know?

I think I remember your post. I only mentioned the 2nd gen because thats what made me wonder how much I could get for mine. It'd be stupid for me to take on new truck, especially in this economy. Like most Americans aren't already living beyond our means as it is. I know I am.

Thanks for the input. I was already planning on throwing that money in my 401k at work since the company does a 8.5% contribution match before taxes. But hell, with todays market, maybe i should just bury the money in my backyard to make sure it will always be there.

Convert to 4x4 with the extra money you will be saving by not selling it and getting a 2nd gen;).

Nice Ride. Like the grill! Keep the truck. I almost traded mine in for a gen 2...last minute I backed out, glad I kept my gen 1. $20k sounds fair if you decide to let her go.

ive lived in northern california, nebraska, and arizona. nebraska sucks imo. san jose was awesome but too expensive. tucson....is tucson. its not that bad once you get over the fact there isnt much to do. oh well....

on a side note... i went to precision toyota today to check out there inventory of tacomas. it was weird i wasnt really impressed. the taillights on the 09's look like something youd order off ebay. the grilles look weird too. i would definately do the satoshi mod if i decided to buy a 2nd gen.

I'll admit SV does blow... but I hated Tucson too... I actually lived down in Rancho Sahuarita -- nice community and away from some of the douchebags in Tucson... :D
