Good points, but a better point is the Coyotes consistantly lose around $30 million a year and nobody would be stupid enough to buy the team with their own money and keep the team there, which is why Glendale must buy the team for Hultzier and try to sell junk bonds repayed by 100 million phantom dollars received from parking revenue when there is plenty of free parking availible. And did I mention they can't give most of their tickets away?

Winnipeg and Quebec City will both have teams by the 2013/14 season

Get off your high horse .

No horse here....1 of those cities will have a team, but not both. I have nothing against Canada, I thought the Nordique jerseys were sweet I would love to see those again but it's not in the NHL's interest to move teams up north. Jim balsille has the money to buy an entire division of NHL teams but they won't let him. They can't expand anymore because there just isn't enough talent to field more rosters, so keep dreaming about having more teams in Winnipeg, Hamilton, and Quebec. You'll get 1.

Quebec City? I would have thought Hamilton after the Preds almost sale a few years back. I don't disagree that Canada should have a few more teams, it's better for the game. The problem is it's not expanding the market. The only way you gain fans for Quebec City is by stealing them from I assume Montreal? 100% of Canada is already watching hockey.

It's not expansion , it's moving shit franchises from crap American markets to solid Canadian markets

Quebec City and Montreal had their own fans just fine when they both had NHL teams

I've heard KC and Houston mentioned in blogs and stuff too. The Houston Oilers has a nice ring to it.:)

Exactly, You're not creating any new markets in Canada by moving teams there. I know that ATL, PHX, Columbus, Dallas, FLA, Tampa, were all in the red last yr, while ATL has never turned a profit. Now Tom Glavine wants to buy the Thrashers with some investors to keep them in ATL. The NHL is loving this idea. Now anyone that knows anything about hockey and its fans, or Atlanta, knows this is a bad idea. They're doing whatever they can to keep ATL and PHX stay put.

Yeah KC built a stadium to either host a NBA or NHL team. They have nothing, just an empty building. I'm glad it wasn't with my taxes.

It's taking money out of your left pocket and moving it to the right pocket. Montreal has 500 fans, Arizona has none. Arizona becomes the Nordiques again and they both now have 250 fans. It's great for whoever buys the team, it sucks for everybody else. That's why the the owners have been against it. You can say they do just fine, but the Molson's opinion is probably a little different.

I think they should just get rid of the Sharks. Shitty team in a boring shitty town. Have 29 teams, maybe get rid of the Ducks too, because we dont need two teams in SoCal. Then we'll be good :)

    Arizona was Winnipeg
    Colorado was Quebec

You can't tell me there are more fans for the Coyotes or Thrashers than Montreal , that's retarded yet fitting at the same time

Wrong. Quit bitching because your team is out of the playoffs.

Yeah they WERE Quebec and they WERE Winnipeg, but it didn't work out there. They needed new arenas with modern facilities and corporate sponsers. I don't know if they have those now or not, but just because they had somethign before doesn't mean it will work out the next time around. The Penguins had plenty of fans for a long time and they almost moved, they had to get the city and corps. behind them to stay and get a new arena.

The NHL should have 4 teams relocate...Atlanta, PHX, Columbus and FLA or the Isles. Those teams have the worst reveunes, I think they all are for sale currently or have been recently. Neither draw large crowds or have developed strong community relations. Give 1 team to Canada preferably Quebec, a team to Seattle or Portland. That can turn into a good NW rivalry in a market where there arent too many competiting pro teams, and the weather sucks up there in the winter too. I think SLC would be a good spot for a team as well with the same reasons, so long as they have a good arena. I dotn know anythign about the Jazz arena. Plus it could develop into an AVS rivalry. All those cities have pretty good followings for their minor league teams too. Last city I dont know, there are several options but I think large sprawled out cities where the majority of the population lives in the burbs won't work out. Atlanta is like that, Dallas same way. So avoid cities like Houston.

Ugh. Second round TV schedule announced and we're already forced to put up with Versus for some of our local games.

Does anyone else hate the Versus announcers as much as my friends and I do?

I like my announcers to call the game and insert color to fill the holes. Versus always feels like their talking color and filling in with the gameplay, often talking over great moments... And they're obviously biased sometimes, but act like they aren't. I'd rather have an announcer that admits his loyalties and gets excited. Don't sit there trying to be stoic while still throwing not-so-subtle references and stifling yourself after goals/hits/whatever...

Be glad you're not a Pens fan. The VS announcers are better than our local crap. And to think we fired a HOF announcer and stuck him on the radio. Probaly one of the stupidiest thigns the Pens organization has ever done. I liked Bill Clement from ESPN, watching the frozen 4 made me miss the good ol days.

I agree 100%. It's always the team that is "supposed" to win that they are biased for.

Not to mention Quebec was all in French, which is cute but extremely limits your audience and leads guys like Lindros telling you to fuck le self. And don't even be a dick biter, you didn't know he had a uterus back then.

Yeah, duh, the whole Patrick Roy thing, that's right around when I started watching hockey. It doesn't change the fact that bringing Quebec back cuts into Montreal's piece of the canadien pie.
