    Mud and 2wd is NEVER a good combo. Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but the suction of the mud only adds to the problem in addition the lack of traction.

    The military actually has guide books with formulas based on deep they're stuck and now heavy the vehicle is to tell them how many pulleys they need to pull out a stuck vehicle due to that.

    You may have made it with 4WD, but you would have had to hit it with some speed and keep your momentum up. Back off the gas, slow down and your done. :D With 2wd your front wheels turned into wheel chocks. I have 4wd and avoid mud unless there's another 4wd to pull me out.
