Actually, if it was expressed correctly then it would be 6÷2*(1+2), then the answer would be a no brainer.

    Go here- www.myalgebra.com

    Type in 6/2(1+2)

It will take you to another screen that does not give the answer, FOR A REASON.

Replace the / with an actual division symbol provided for you above the equation.

    Press "Answer."

    Viola.

The way it is written means the fraction 6/2 multiplied by the quantity (1+2). The quantity (1+2) is clearly not in the numerator. So there is no other way to interpret it, if you did it would be wrong.

Well, it doesn't give you the answer. You have to click math format then press answer. That's because the answer isn't obvious. Yet, if we simplify by using an actual division sign instead of a forward slash (which is probably the original intention) you arrive at the core of the solution....1.

DUDE...MULTIPLICATION & DIVISION AND ADDITION & SUBTRACTION GO LEFT TO RIGHT. ALL MULTIPLICATION & DIVISION GO LEFT TO RIGHT BEFOR ADDITION & SUBTRACTION WHICH ALSO GO LEFT TO RIGHT. IF YOU NEED TO GO "OUT OF" THAT ORDER, THEN YOU CAN USE PARENTHESES.

GO TO THIS SITE AND PUT THE PROBLEM IN...IT IS A PEMDAS CALCULATOR.

I was taught to do the math in this order: Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide.

So by that logic, the answer is one.

And I'm not reading 22 pages of debate, so I'm sorry if someone already posted this.
