30,000 mile tune up

i have 25k now on my 08 sport

i am driving from CT to OBX NC this summer including a week on the beach. i dont drive a ton of miles normally and i am not sure if i will reach 30k before i leave. should i do the full 30k maintenance before or after i go? i was leaning towards just an oil change if im short of, or just at 30k

i plan on doing my own 30k service. oil, filter, spark plugs ,front and rear diff and transfer case, as well as the other stuff recommended.

a few questions...

only the rear diff needs the LSD additive right?
the front and rear diff and transfer case all use 75w-90 right?
synthetics are ok?

any tips or advice for me?

 

If you miss it by a couple thousand or so, no big deal. Just do it when you get back if you don't think you'll hit 30k before you go to NC.

 

do I have to change your diff fluids and transfer case at the 30,000 tune up? I have a 07 V6 SR5.

 

Do not use synthetic on the sport. It will cause the LSD to bind. Trust me. Search if you don't believe me

 

Typically, if your within a couple of thousand miles either way on the 30K stuff, you will be ok, minus the oil and filter change. Its the guy who pushes the limits of the vehicle that should adhere to or perhaps exceed interval recommendations of Toyota. Tow a heavy load regularly, push your vehicle off road and or in dusty conditions often, or anything else considered severe driving in the manual you may want to step up maintenance intervals as needed, depending on conditions.

 

I have a Off Road and used the synthetic oil. But, I do remember a bunch of sport guys guys complaining about synthetic oil binding with the LSD. I would just use regular oil and make sure you use the LSD additive.

I am pretty sure you only need the LSD just for the rear, but I would get that clairified before you start as per in my off road it wasnt needed.

PS.... I am taking my Tacoma to Myrtle Beach this summer from PA. 13 hrs each way.

 

My understanding is that the yes sport has no real LSD it is the same setup as every other Tacoma besides the yes off-road. This being the "auto LSD" . So I don't see how it could binde since my understanding is that there isn't one. Correct me if Im wrong.
