agreed on the stock, small wheeled ones. however, when they're lifted a bit, nice sized tires - the new 4 runners are by far the nicest looking.

Alright, I know we know that no body knows whats to come and if thew knew they would make us wait anyway... Is that enough knowledge for one sentance?

Just found this article and more like it talking about the "Entune" coming to the tacoma later this year..."2012"...For all those who wanted a navigation system, your prayers may be answred. For those that didn't care about a navigation system like me, It looks way better than just a Nav system and you will probably want it anyway for all the other cool things it can do like the remote start fatures, music, and internet.

It looks like Toyotas answer to Onstar. September...hurry up and get here so I can order my Taco.

I would not buy the 1st year of the 3rd gen....I would wait until the 2n-3rd year of production to get kinks worked out. Nothing like getting a new truck and having to keep taking it in for a damn tsb!

Its gonna happen this year guys...the new Camry and Tacoma should arrive around the same time in late summer or fall. Toyota wouldnt put Entune in a product they werent going to give a significant update to and waste the publicity. Expect the same platform for the tacoma with different sheet metal and updated V6 ~270hp.

From what I am hearing, this isnt going to be a complete redesign but just an update (so I dont know if i'd call it a 3rd gen just yet). Just some updated sheetmetal and possibly using the v6 engine from the new 4runner.

As to the boxy look of the new 4runner, check out this thread I started. you may have seen this photoshop around on TW. It has gotten very good response, with a few hecklers...

"Entune will bow in the Prius V wagon (the "V" isn't for "five," but for "versatile," Pisz explains) but by the end of the year it will be introduced into the Camry and Tacoma lineups--which suggests heavy facelifts or model-cycle replacements for both of those aging vehicles are imminent"

Got it. We all like our Tacomas and right now they out sale Frontiers. Look at growth rates though. If those rates continued it wouldn't be that long. Like, late 2013 they'd be almost equal. Anyway, doesn't seem to matter as 2012 looks to have some serious updates on the way anyway judging by some of the opinions on this thread. If not, I'm sure major updates would come by the 2013 model year, which would give Toyota a boost above Nissan just when they would start to become a serious threat.

Ok,well when and if a 3rd gen hits the market I will still wait. I made this mistake with my 2005 and will not do that again.

Thanks for the info!

I wouldn't place any money on a redesign for 2012 after the disaster in Japan and Toyota just barely being able to *maybe* ramp to full production at the end of the year.

I'd like to see a few options added, ones that i would have gotten on my 2010 but were not availiable.

Leather seats
sunroof
electric rear slider
NAV

That'd be nice!

I have confirmation from someone at Toyota corporate that the next gen is due out this fall or shortly after. It was called sheet metal/engine change (tundra v6). Read into that what you will as I'm not sure what it means (asked for clarification, haven't heard back yet). I am supposed to be finding out more soon.
