Is it Keyless???

    I just purchased my first taco, a 2005 doublecab TRD Sport.

    The dealer only had one key and no keyless entry remote. Is there a way to tell if my truck has the keyless system? Aren't all TRD's keyless? If it is, how much would it cost for the dealership to make a keyless remote? I also think I read in the manual that all keys have to be made at the dealership because they have a chip in them, is this true? if so, how much $$$?

    So far I'm loving my taco, It makes me want to go camping or somthing off road!

    You can buy the key fob off Ebay or Craigslist, and have the dealer program it. That would be the cheaper route. The dealership will charge a lot.

    I ordered the power doors and windows conversion kit for my truck, and it comes with the fob for $100.

    I would be somewhat shocked if any 20K+ vehicle did not come with keyless entry now that we're in 2009.

    I didnt know you could program it yourself? My step brother programmed his titan's key fob himself but he had to go through the Nissan website and make a phone call.

    i dont know where its located in the new trucks...but there should be an ecu for the keyless entry hidden somewhere in the cab...

    you can purchase a fob online like ebay or something and then look up the programming codes (not necessary to have dealer do it as it should just be some sequential pressing of buttons)

    my truck didnt have it...it still doesnt...i bought an ecu/fob awhile back without the harness...and never got around to buying the harness...

    I had to replace my fob. The instruction are shocking. But I did it on the 2nd try. It goes something like put the key in, open & close the door a few times, take the key out,blah blah blah!:eek:

    That is what you have to do, & it worked. You have to pay attention to every step on the directions. I missed one step the 1st time.

    There are more "programming options" that involve opening and closing the doors, turning the key on/off a few times, seat belts, etc... Absolutely crazy that THIS is how they program things! It would be pretty awesome if there was some sort of "interface" that you could program into the truck's computer and set these things...

    i think this is a built in security measure so that some local crook cant go buy a fob and walk up to your car and reprogram his fob to unlock your car

    they may have changed the keyless module model i suppose...i think from 02-06? they used the RS3200...maybe theyve changed it:confused:
