So I was out wheeling this weekend and when I pushed my locker button all it did was flash and never did lock in, I tried going forward and reverse real slow and still no. My question is I had my truck in the shop a few weeks ago to get my drivers side rear axel seal fixed, Could they have done something to cause it not to lock in? Or should I be looking for something I might have broke?

Are you asking about the locker or switching into 4WD?

going forward and reverse don't do much good unless you are also turning the wheel to rotate the axles...

if they aren't lining up in the diff, going back and forth in a straight line with both axles turning at the same time won't help them line up to where they need to be to lock...

so, stop, lock, roll, and turn...

    just like a dancer...

    hahaha

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
HAHA yeah x2 if you roll forward or back and turn a little it should lock up if it's working properly or if your stuck and one tire is spinning.

Some people have also suggested putting the truck in neutral, but turning a little will give you what your looking for

    try turning a complete circle...

    a slow moving donut...

i have had a couple times before where turning the wheel side to side didn't lock right away either...

turned the wheel left and made almost a full circle before the locker kicked in...

i don't think the axle seal repair would impact it, unless of course the axle isn't back in there correctly, in which case, if you lifted the truck on jacks and put her in drive, the driver side would not turn at all...

you are at a stop right?

i put it in neutral, foot off brake, press the button,, wait a few seconds, put on brake put it in drive and creep forward and it locks fine

and if they didnt put the axel in right it would be pretty noticable, i dont think it would even drive because the tolerances in the diff are pretty tight and i dont know how it would fit without it being in right

So I just went out in the parking lot and tried driving in a circle and turning back and forth and still no lock. I will try leaving my foot off the brake at lunch and see if that works. thanks

Look at the axle and check if there are any plugs unplugged or wires cut. One more thing you are in 4lo or have the gray wire mod right?

So has anyone actually had this same problem with it locking in? All connectors are hooked up and i have tried all suggestions. Just wondering where I should start troubleshooting at?

take it back to the people who did the work and tell them they damaged your truck and they need to fix it free of charge. if they wont let them know that they just lost many good customers. then go to better buisness and report em!!! i have only done that in very bad situations

I have the same issue. One guy here said to do the grey wire mod and see if that would get it to lock in. I havent had the time to get that done.

i'v had the same problm your talking about . i did the gray wire mod and i haven't had any more issues . but the indcater light does not fully light up . even if its in 4 lo . so it i tryed takeing the switch for the light out and held it in and the light never did come on fully . so i'm guessing the switch is gone to the bad . i would say thats yoou problem but if you was on concrete you would heard tire chrp .
also food for thought after the gray wire mod . in 2wd it will do a nice donut if you got the power to kick it around lol .
