start up truck?

Hey guys, how often should i start my truck? I have a 2010 mazda 3 that's my daily dirver. i put almost 28k last year. I drive my 2011 taco on the weekends. I try cranking it up at least a couple of times a week but sometimes i do forget and go with out for a week, is that bad for the motor? and sometimes i go out of town for a couple of weeks at a time, so the truck just sits in the garage. Any imput on this would be appreciated.

You aren't hurting anything. Just think of how long it sat at the dealer lot or at the manufacturing plant and I'm sure it runs fine. Just properly maintain it and your good.

 

I have a work vehicle that I drive during the week and my Tacoma pretty much only gets driven on the weekends. There have been times where I'm out of town for 3-4 weeks at a time, and I've haven't had any issues with my truck at all. You won't hurt anything by letting it sit for a week or two at a time.

 

that's good to know. now is it ok to just crank it up and let it idle for a few minutes or is it better to actually take it out for a spin? Most of the time i drive it to bucees (local gas station) to get a tallboy and an ice cream cone for my son. So the tranny is actually moving.
