I know, right? That's why I posted these instead of making my own....

Pretty sure he was just talking about trying the mod in general.

 

Hate the factory horn so I bought the super tone horns. I guess I should have listened to the sound clips someone posted. If they sound that bad I don't even think I am going to bother.

Someone please tell me they don't sound like the youtube video that was posted. I know the youtube had some ricer car but I think the horns will sound the same regardless what vehicle you put them in.

 

My thoughts...lol.

Ok sounds like these aren't the horns I want. Any other suggestions??? The Toyota horn is weak at best.

I must have missed the vid with the "Ricer Car". What vid was that? As I posted earlier I have the Hellas on my STI and they are really loud. But I wouldnt put them on my Taco.

 

If the tone isn't for you, then that's fine. I personally don't care about the tone itsself, I'm all about the volume! These horns certainly suit my needs in that regard.

When you have to use them, no one is going to say "wow did that come from a ricer car, lol, those sound stupid!", they are going to say "S**T that's loud...I wish I hadn't have pulled out in front of that guy".

man i've been to Ace and Home Depot and can't for the life of me find a corner bracket like the one you have. i found some 1" galvanized ones that seem to be a bit longer, and need to be drilled. they don't look as stubby as yours. you mentioned you got them at Lowes and they are stainless? What section did you get it from?

 

They were in the section near the door knobs and latches. I had them laying around from a while ago so maybe they don't stock them anymore

 

dam. wish those horns sounded better. they look awesome. so i have no idea how a horn works. would it be possible to just mount a ford horn in place of a stock toyota one? because thatd be prestine. getting ready to have an alarm installed and i cant handle that stock horn... help???

 

I'll vouch for these horns. Yes its a weird sound but isn't the whole point of a horn to get attention? I had them on my WRX and they are super loud. Always got the attention of the person who was doing something stupid around me.

yea but thats too loud. i just wanted them deeper, not really louder. i dont honk at people, i let them cut me off, get in front of em, and brake check them as much as i need to unitl i piss them off enough for them to try and pass e, then i cut them off. =D

 

uhh, ok.

anyway,

it seems you want a horn just like anyone else's, so just go find the lowest tone disc horn you can find at the parts store and replace the high tone of your current OE toyota twin tone setup. that way you'll have a low tone and a lower tone, which together will make for a deep stock type horn setup. for what it is worth, hella makes cheap single low tone replacements just like what i'm talking about. rallylights.com can get them.

but the reliability of supertones, and the overall brash tone make for what i think is an ideal upgrade. there are air horns that are louder (not train horns) but they rely on a compressor and take up much more space.
