Congratulations Bro! Welcome to the crew! You will probably like the ambulance better than the hospital....most in the hospitals work basically as techs.

I just saw you said EMT-B not trying to knock ya down but you might want to get your EMT-I so you can do more and be a better asset to an employer. The county service I work for won't hire EMT-B's only I's and P's.

Thanks! not sure what the deal is with other states,
but If i'm not mistaken AZ is doing away with the EMT-I's and the ones who currently have that certification are going to be the last ones.. quoting my teacher..
also my college I took this class through doesn't offer it.. Just B and P..
    can anyone elso confirm?

It was mostly transporting old people from hospital to hospital for random shit. A lot of poop, catheters, and vitals. It was a great introductory experience - dont get me wrong. I am now in a Doctor of Pharmacy program at UOP and I know that my EMT experience served me very well.

However, people become an EMT for the epi rush and I only received that on about... uuuhhhhh.... 2% of my calls. For a true epi rush u gotta become a paramedic or atleast work on an ALS rig or get into Fire

edit: I believe hospital EMTs make about twice as much because they work a lot more - I spent at least half my time bullshittin around in a Starbucks parking lot while waitin for calls

hopefully its not that only 1% of people make it into the EMS. Cuz only 0.002% of college grads make it into a PharmD program :anonymous:

True. But if they want to stay in the medical field there is always the ADN transition. ;)
