ok guys, i have a flowmaster 50 single in, dual out going to two 3" tips on my 2.7L and i like it, however i can never get the exhaust to stop shaking while in drive sitting at idle which is causing it to radiate into the cab and shacking everything, so i was considering dumping it right behind the back axle but will this change how it sounds? i know everyone does this with a single in/single out but i do not want to buy a new muffler since mine is just at a year old. my brother just did this on his 2003 V6 with a magnaflow (not sure which series) single in/single out and i dont think im a fan of how it sounds.

I've never been a fan of turning down or dumping an exhaust mainly because the sound bounces off the ground and resonates in the cabin so you get major drone. It's very annoying and kind of gives me a headache.

yeah i have never been in a truck with a turndown besides my brothers and it was only for a short ride so it wasnt enough to make a decision but i know his is a lot quieter than my truck and mine is deeper, which i dont want to lose. i wish i can find a way to get mine to stop shaking/vibrating while im stopped. any ideas?

Keep the duals man! You know it's a nice look. Shouldn't be hard to locate where it's hitting-do the work and correct it. Way better than having all that sound and no visual to eyeball-gives the impression that your exhaust is f'd up and you don't want to fix it/

i cant really see your set up but thats where my pipes are run on both sides - between my leaf springs and towpackage. im just getting a pretty annoying vibration when im idling and cant figure out how to stop it. i have 2 sets of hangers on each pipe after the muffler and neither one of them is loose

The 4-banger does that-it's a giant vibrator:D maybe that 2nd pipe is sending more vibe up the frame-can you try a second rubber hanger to the frame? Also look at the whole system under the truck-you may actually see the vibe happening between the muffler and cat.

i put a second rubber hanger just before each of the pipe tips and attached it to the frame and it stopped the tips from shaking and gave me a total of 4 (2 on each pipe) but the rest still shakes and comes into the truck. i have looked for it and the vibration starts right around the muffler area. the stock hangers just after the muffler (which is in the stock location) are not being used so i may add a hanger to each pipe from those since those are connected tothe frame IIRC. i guess its just a trial and error game now

can you hang more inward at the back? If there's a long enough section of unhung pipe you will get that vibe. Imagine if you could grab that unhung portion with your arms to stop the vibe-you can do that with hangers .

You know-you could cut the pipe foreward to have the tips exit before the rear tire on one side like nascar:) I guarantee it will stop the vibe too!
