Heys guys, Im a long time lurker. After reading for months now I took the dive and purchased the Toytec Ultimate life w/ OME Dakar 2in lift springs. Im going to run Duratrac 285/75/16 with black ATX Artillery wheels. From what Ive been reading I could still have minimal rub at full turn but nothing serious. Anyways great site glad to come out with something to add to the forum, hope to have pics once its all finished.

Nah too much trouble im pretty lazy, besides it raises curiosity.
On another note the wheels I, getting are 16x9 with 4-1/2 bacl spacing, is this going to work?

Your wheels should be fine. They'll stick out just a tad, but I think a lot of people go for that look anyhow.

4.5 BS is too much. Stock wheels are 4.5" BS. You'll need at most a 4" back spacing. Hell still i rub wheeling with my setup. Rubs on drivers side inside frame full lock and compression with 16x8 and 4" BS and 285's.

You have no need for a 9" wide wheel. It will actually harm you more than help you when you're wheeling if you are going to run 285's

Getting 285's to fit without rubbing on a 1st gen is a bit of a challenge. 33's are no problem, it's the width of the tire that's difficult to manage. Getting it to work is a combination of correct backspacing and more than likely minor fender/wheel well trimming. I can tell you for fact you will rub with a 4.5" backspacing. There's no magic you can do with an alignment to make that not rub. Come down to a 4" backspacing and it's possible to not rub on your day to day driving, but more than likely you'll still end up with a shiney spot or two on your frame. However since you've pushed your tires out farther, you might have the possiblity of trimming the fenders and pinchweld.

I ended up not messing with the fenders at all and just put glass fenders on (part of my future planning anyway). I still ended up griding on the pinchweld area. Hell you can fit 33x12.50's with enough cutting. JLee did it. Check his build for the pics.

Well if that's the wheels your sold on, you're going to have to run a 265 if you don't want to rub. If you change your driving habbits and don't wheel, then I'm sure you can get away with 285's as they should clear the UCA. I know a 285 on a 5" BS will clear aftermarket UCA, so a 285 on 4.5" should clear a factory UCA.

I REEALLY like the concept of the teflon wheels, but the backspacing doesn't adhere to 1st gen needs. 4.5" BS is perfect for 2nd gen Tacomas, 1st gen Tundras and 4th gen runners, but is just too much for our Tacomas.

Just alittle update for yall. Ive been working out of town and have not had time to install the left yet. I ended up with Procomp 7089s vs the original idea, they were cheaper.
