alignment questions...

I just installed my toytec ULK...and now the front tires have a small amount but noticable positive camber, I know if I adjust them down it will fix it but my question is that can you adjust the camber without aftermarket UCA's?

 

You can adjust the camber without aftermarket ucas but that is your castor that's off I believe

 

Get an alignment asap. Shouldn't have any difficulty setting toe and camber to spec. It'll be the caster that'll be somewhat low. Are the CO cranked up to a full 3" of lift? Lowering it down some will improve you chances of getting better caster numbers.

 

I think they are cranked up to 3in...whatever they set it at toytec...I never adjusted anything...the fronts are a little higher then the rears...I was hoping they would settled down a bit after driving it for a week...its only been 2 days...will they settle down a bit? Or should I just adjust them so their even with the rears?

 

the front will not settle as much as the back will so you will always have a rake. Take it and get a alignment. I have a true 3in lift on my taco and it took them about an hour to get the caster in alone but they proved that it can be done with a full 3in lift. or you can adjust the front down a little so they can get you caster in and that would reduce your rake issue as well. i had them and they settled to 3" and made my truck level with a 2" AAL in rear

 

Which coil is used on those? Is that an Eibach 620 lbs coil? If so, they wont settle much unless you add additional weight to the front, like a plate bumper, winch, aftermarket skids, etc.

What size tire are you trying to clear?

 

I got the heaviest coil that toytec offers..so I guess they wont settle much...i'll just adjust them down to match the rears...not necessarily trying to clear a certain tire, I have bfg AT 265/75R16 (same as 32's right?) And they use to rub when I make u turns but now after the lift no more rubbing.

 

Get an alignment and tell them its new suspension. Most places will allow you to bring it back and get it tweaked a little after the suspension settles.

 

You will have to work with the alignment shop to get the numbers as close as possible. I could not get mine to meet the factory alignment numbers, aligned it several times. Without the aftermarker UCAs you can't get there. But I have about 20,000 on my Toytec lift to 2.5 and it works for me.

You can get it close enough if you are patient and get the alignment tech to work with you

 

Hell I wish I could get my caster over 0.......the aligment shop I went to can't seem to get anything more than 0. I got bette numbers when the lift was first put on 2 years ago.....time to find another shop I guess.

 

The trick is to sacrifice camber for caster

 

good point.......I'm no expert on IFS alignments so I don't know much when I go in a discuss it with them...all I see is numbers. They claim neg. caster won't wear tires but I dunno if I believe them

 

With stock UCAs and a toytec set at 2.5in these are my alignment numbers

camber -0.2 0.0
caster 1.2 1.6
toe 0.07 0.05

These are not the factory spec but they work for me no abnormal tire wear and it drives good.

 

Caster has no effect on tire wear. Only toe and camber do.
