Anyone ever do this? Any results?

I've picked up smoking again about a year ago and i've been a year on, year off smoker kind of smoker for about 8 years now. I'll quit cold turkey and for no good reason pick it up a year or two later, smoke for a year and then drop it again. I'm struggling to quit this time tho, and having two roommates who smoke does not help either. Been thinking of doing the hypnosis route this time around. Anyone have experience with this?

    thanks

Don't have personal experience, but I know that hypnosis can be very effective for dealing with certain things. I believe smoking is one of them, but do you dd.

    Hookers and blow...

Just kidding:D I actually tried it once to see if I could calm my nerves during golfing tournaments (when I was still playing competitively) and once to try and get me to stop chewing my fingernails. Neither worked, and I wasn't combating the effects of nicotine as well. The truth is that it comes down to a commitment on your end. No one can "place" and idea in your head well enough for you to act on it if you don't really want it to happen. Hypnosis my be able to push you that last little bit, but it is not the end all answer to an addiction or a problem. It will require some end user input. Make it personal, make changes that are real and tangible, and stick to them... You will be better for it, but I am sure that you already know that

A co-worker did it. He was skeptical but when he sat down with the hypnotist, the guy told him to go outside, have a cigarette and savor every drag of it as though it was the greatest cigarette in the world and that he'd never have another one as good as it.

He did it and sure enough, never wanted another cig again. Every time he felt a little urge to smoke, he remembered back to the cig he had at the hypnotist's office and lost interest.

No matter what method you use, you have to be really commited to quit. I smoked for 20 yrs. I did the cold turkey method 3 times. 3rd times a charm! That was 22 years ago. You gotta be off for at least 2 years before you can relax you defenses. Unless you move out from the smoking roommates you won't succeed. Going out drinking with people who smoked is what got me started again and that was after having not smoked for a year. The last time I quit I told myself that if I didn't make it that time then I would never try to quit again. Good luck, there is no magic pill, but quiting is worth it!

Day one...Wake up, do your normal thing, count how many smokes you have in a day. Day two, three and four, smoke two less than first day. Day 5,6,7, cut back by two again. Once you are down to a handfull just quit. Thats what I did. Quit for 3 years, been a smoker for 15.
