In the back of the cluster you have 4 t10/168 bulbs. For the Tach and speedo. Only down side to the 01-04 is no matter what bulb you put in there you will have an orange tint to them because theres an orange film on the gauge face. search ebay for a new gauge face and swap it in.

How bad of an idea is it for someone that has 0 soldering experience to attempt this mod?

You have an 01, I'm pretty sure it's like mine. Just remove the bulb holders and plug a new bulb in.

So it doesnt even involve soldering? I was looking at a link to a 2nd gen lighting change and they were using a soldering iron for something. I was hoping i didnt have to get into this. What lights did you use? I need to go ahead and make an order.

I used t10 5 SMD bulbs. You will need 4 of them. But on the 01-04 why ever bulb you put in you will still have an orange tint. Because of the film they put on the cluster

Are the bulbs for the cluster the same as the ones for the AC control? Might as well do it all while im at it.

Can someone please send the actual link of the bulbs i need to order. I, being the dumb person i am, seems to be having trouble finding what i need. I am wanting the blue. Any help would be greatly appriciated. I would hate to order the wrong lights. Thanks in advance.

I saw these before but didnt think that those were right. I figured the ones i needed fit flush to the board. What i get for assuming huh?
Also will any 194 bulb replace these?

Yes any 194 bulb works your ac panel can't be changed due to the film on the back of the bezel plus they lights in there are a pain in the ass
