Aren't fog lights mounted low on a vehicle so it will cut the glare back to the driver in a fog or snow situation? If so, why do the fog lights only come on on my 2010 Tacoma when the higher mounted low beams are on? It's unsafe in the fog. This is just common sense. If they came on with only the amber marker lights, it would make more sense, cut the glare back at the driver, and add to the safety which is the idea of the fog lights in the first place......

    Engineered right? I think not.

Never had an issue or felt unsafe using the low beams with the fog lights in heavy fog or snow... That's why they ONLY come on with the low beams. If it's dark, the fogs don't produce enough light to drive with in my opinion so I think it was engineered just fine.

I agree that fogs should be close to the ground but if they do not produce enough light to see where you're going then it's useless to have them on without the headlights. They're there to suppliment the headlights, not replace them when it's foggy. I've found the headlights when on low beam to be aimed down enough so I don't get blinded in snow or fog.

They work for snow the same way they work for fog. If you have high mounted lights in snow, it reflects back at you and blinds you so having the low mounted lights work well.

Yes, that would be nice and if they were bright enough to drive with I'd join your side of the argument and say they should come on without the headlights.

There is a differance between a fog light and a driving light. Its all about the COLOR. Sorry bad color yellow. ITS ALL ABOUT THE COLOR!

We do not have fog light on our trucks unless you change the lense color. White means driving light. Yellow means fog/snow conditions.

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
    Best answer so far.
