I can't see the video at work, but.... big deal!

Better than tazing her, night-sticking her or shooting her. Heck, most fights in high school are shove-matches anyway. I think he should be commended for keeping the level of force way down (provided she was doing anything wrong in the first place)

age has absolutely NOTHING to do with it in this case

She's not of such small stature that she could be mistaken for a child

actions and the variables we DONT know (verbal/prior encounters) are what matters

Ha hell ya, you won't listen to your parents, well you better listen to the police! haha. Totally could have been going for a weapon though from the officers angle. Might have been a little harsh, but she wasn't heeding the officers commands. Plus I'm pretty sure officers aren't perfect, he could have overestimated how much he needed to subdue that girl.

I guess we'll see what factors into the decision. Me personally? As I said before, I hope that was a wake-up call for that kid to get her shit together.

He should have dumped a litre of cola on her and then tased her.

Maybe now she'll have a little respect for authority.

    That was a sweet hit!

Whip your momma's ass and the popo will teach you how to respect your parents!

No mention of the mother ever filing a complaint, so apparently she appreciated the cop's actions

    for the sake of argument...
true enough. but the cop was charging for the shove into wall before the girl even turned around. lets say the cops are yet to arrive and a bystander shoves the girl head first into the wall, would that not be grounds for assault?

He looked like he was just calmly walking up to her until she took her hand out of his line sight(when she put it up near her stomach), and then he started running, so I can kinda understand why he tackled her. Plus like you guys said don't flee the scene and you wont get tackled...but damn did he knock her down hard. It looks like he knocked her out of her shoes. HaHa

should have just tazed her, she def deserved it but he could have given her serious back or neck injuries by doing what he did, also looks like her face slammed the ground.

I dislike the fact that I've only met a couple cops that weren't PTDBs.

Well I'm sorry for the bad experiences you've had with police officers in the past. However, I think its a broad, tacky generalization to say that MOST cops are power tripping douche bags. I have several friends that are police officers, and like military personnel, I appreciate what they go through to protect our community.

Edit: Not saying there aren't bad apples in the group, or people who got into the profession for the wrong reasons. I just think its a disrespectful statement to say that about the majority of police officers.

Curious as to know why you believe this...

Bad experience on a personal level? Maybe a friend? Most people think cops are DB's when that person is doing something wrong, i.e mouthing off to, arguing with or disrespecting the officer, or general law breaking and malarky.

I'll admit my respect for someone I am in contact with only goes so far, and that is, as far as their respect goes for me. Verbal judo goes so far too, after that, its hands on judo!

I can't see the vid at work, but I will watch it when I get home :D

I do appreciate what cops do for our communities, and recognize that it is a pretty thankless job for what they put up with on a daily basis. I've formed my opinion through the handful of encounters I've had with cops over the years and maybe 'most' is a tad exaggerated. I apologize if I offended anyone, but my opinion remains much the same.
