I've been looking around for a Buell to buy, and came across a few. 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2001. Anyone have experience with these years?

I have a 1999 X1 Lightning. 1203cc V-twin HD motor. Never had a problem with it. Not going to be as fast as a Ricer but all torque. My bike is 101hp and I am getting somewhere around 96.6 at the rear wheel. Vibrates like a crackhead when sitting still. Smooths out once your moving. Still not as smooth as a Ricer. It is for sale too. Needs a new battery and rear tire. 11000 miles never dropped or crashed. $3500

**I also know where there is a Buell Blast for sale** My friend's X-girlfriend has it. I road it once. Can't tell you anything about it though.

I can't speak for him. If it was me... $3000 and I would help you load it up to take home. Make the offer. All he can do is say no.

    alright thanks :D

I love the Harley sound/feel. And I love the "naked" look of the Buell's. I'm just scared to buy a bike that's 10 years old lol.

eh, just give it a test ride and make sure there's no weird noises. Check it out same as you would a car (should be a little easier since everything is exposed). I just sold my 1990 CBR 600 2 years ago and it ran flawlessly. If it was well maintained 10 years old really isn't an issue, especially with such low mileage.

I agree. I had mine serviced EVERY year by the HD dealer here. I changed the oil 2x a year. Cables lubed, nuts torqued, drive belt checked, ect...ect. It was my feeling that since it is a bike and that bikes are enherently danerous... I wanted the best maintained machine under me.

    I bought it!

He was asking 3500, I offered 2800, and we ended up at 3100. It needs a new battery, but man oh man at the POWER! I love it already :D
