I use a K&N on my 2.7. It seems like it has a little more giddyup. I really just got it because you dont have to change it. EVER. However you do have to re-oil every 50k i think.

I've always used K&N in all my vehicles, never had a reason to doubt till reading this thread...looks like I'll stick with OEM...for now...

I spend a lot of time off pavement during hunting season. Conditions can vary from deep snow, torrential rain or dry as a bone and hella dusty. I have used up an air filter in as little as a week at times. Since my primary concern is keeping my engine from ingesting bad things and I don't wish to take the time to clean an oiled or cleanable type filter I just use the stock type elements. They swap out in a minute or less and I am on my way.

Napa in my area has them for 12.99. I work in automotive and buy mine from a local wholesale dist. They run me under 10 bucks.

FYI- I have 36k on my truck, the last 8 or so using a K&N. I ended up going through a deep muddy puddle with all the recent rain (made a mess under the hood because I was going at a good clip) so I took a peek into the throttle body to see if there was any mud that got in (and to also clean potential grime). Throttle body was spotless, honestly looked brand new.

If it's the TRD air filter, it's pretty much just a K&N as far as I can tell (had the TRD on my Tundra, used a K&N on the Taco). It's pre-oiled and you can use a K&N recharge kit on it when the time comes.
