Im lookin at gettin a Chocolate Lab puppy. One of the customers where I work is going to give me her breeders info so i can contact him. I was wondering how much you guys paid for your chocolate labs if you got them from a breeder?

How good a dog do you want?

Well-bred dogs are like well-bred anything else: Expensive. You could easily pay $500 to $1000 for a puppy of moderate quality (moderate by enthusiast standards...most pet owners wouldn't know the difference).

OP, here in california there are many places to buy pure bred. $500 - $1500. I just got a black lab for $850

IMHO, if you're looking for a lab that wouldn't require them to be pure bred for your needs, why pay the $500+ when you can rescue one for a 1/5 of that price? Idk thats what a buddy of mine did, just happened to find a good lookin lab at his local shelter and that dog is one of the best I've seen. I'm just saying though. Good luck getting a pup :)

You get what you pay for.... if you go for a cheap pup, you get no health guarantee (up to 26 months from some breeders) and the parents probably haven't been certified for their hips, eyes, and elbows. And if you can no longer care for the dog, be allowed to return it to the breeder.

I'm looking for a choc puppy and have been searching breeders the last few days. Most pet quality pups out here are $700 and up. Don't really want to pay that much, but... for a pup that hasn't come from a puppy mill and has been treated right.... and shouldn't have hereditary problems

Check local Labrador rescue organizations! I just got a chocolate for $800. He came from great blood lines with excellent health history. He's a beautiful english chocolate lab. From the breeders I looked at, he was middle of the road, some were over $2,000 and were champion show dog blood lines (not really what I was looking for).

Thank you! He's about 1.5 old and becoming very expensive! He just tore something in knee this week and has to have surgery to get him fixed up :(

He's smart as hell, loves kids and definitely has that goofy lab temperment and antics!
