I just bought a 2011 Reg cab and im considering tinting the side windows and back 35% (its legal in CT). What is the going rate for window tint? Anyone regret getting their windows tinted?

When I got my reg cab tinted I got 0 in the back and 25 on the sides. It was 115$. It totally changes the look of the truck. Just call some places and get some quotes.

that sounds pretty cheap. Have you ever had the tint peel off on the edges?

I can't speak for pricing other than to avoid the entire vehicle for $69.00 / $99.00 tint jobs - they are typically using very low quality films.

I used to tint windows professionally in LA and TX. LLumar and Madico films are the brands I used and stand behind. Both offer very high-quality products. The main thing to look for with window tint is a 'metalized' film. The cheaper films are dyed and WILL turn purple and likely delaminate (adhesive failure).

See http://www.llumar.com/en/Automotive.aspx for more information. The reputable tint shops will back the installation with a manufacturer's warranty. Make sure you get this warranty card - the shop should provide it. Llumar is my preference but again, Madico is equally good. This is NOT to say there aren't others of equal quality - I'm sure there are. Simply, these are the two brands I've installed and experienced excellent results. I tinted my Taco with Llumar in March 2007 - no purple, no bubbles, no problems!

Please feel free to ask me any questions about window tint.

I bought my tint 35% for the front and 5% for the back. I did it myself since the sides are illegal here in California and didn't want to pay someone to do it and then have to remove because of a ticket.

I used 2 rolls. 1 for rear. And 1/2 for each front window.

It changes the look of your truck a bunch too.

Right after the mud flaps came off, (as soon as I came home) I scheduled the window tint. All vehicles need tint IMO, and most if not all look better with tinted windows. I do the legal on the front windows, and dark all around everywhere else. Most of the time it makes the legal front tint look too dark side by side to the darker rear windows. I just do not want to get yanked for a tinted window violation.

I just got the two front sides tinted to match the two rear sides, and it turned out great. $69.00 all in, and got a lifetime warranty.

I went with Madico on my VW and it's great. The installation shop makes a difference in how they stand behind there product. Go cheap is not always good....I'm with him (above) stay with a quality product.
