Anybody flown Spirit Airlines?

Has anyone on the forum flown Spirit Airlines before? I'm thinking about booking a trip with them, but I searched reviews online and that just made me more confused. Has anyone had any personal experience with Spirit Airlines, whether good or bad that they can share, and if it really saved them money in the end after paying all their fees.

Don't do it. Wife got their CC to earn 'free' flights, which have ended up costing us more money than it was worth. Their flight attendants suck, and there is no room between rows of seats, so it was the most uncomfortable flight ever.

 

Thanks for the feedback Mark! Unluckily my dad already booked the trip and i had no clue, so Spirit it is. I guess I'll see for myself lol. 5 hour flight, hope it wont be too bad

I prefer the 737 also, but I like the Airbus a320 series aircraft. You're a big airplane guy too?

 

Airliners shouldn't have joysticks, not a fan of the Airbus series. But to be fair it's not like they're really any more unsafe than their competitors.

 

I agree, yokes are more authentic. My favorite yokes are found on the Embraer ejets series. Looks like a handlebar on a bike.

 

I flew on spirit a few years ago for a cheap ride home. You def get what you pay for. Wasnt great and the plane was packed but no real problems

 

After a little over a thousand hours of flying with those, I can assure you that they are a terrible design. Flying with both hands feels nice, but in a landing situation (one hand) with a crosswind they are extremely awkward and unnatural feeling.

...........the concord had a similar design.

About Spirit, they are a respectable airline and I would fly on them anytime. They are a low cost carrier similar to Southwest/AirTran, Frontier, or JetBlue. You are getting a cheap ticket, and in life you get what you pay for with regard to "comforts" in the back.

Oh, I see what you mean, yeah that would feel weird. You fly Embraer ejets? That's awesome!! What airline do you fly for? I've always been a big airplane enthusiast, but never managed to convince my parents to let me go for my pilot's license

Yup. I stay wide awake during every flight anyway, so comfort doesn't matter much, trying to absorb the awesomeness. haha.

Haha, yeah, the all glass cockpit makes it beautiful too. 737-700 winglets, is the most graceful looking airplane in the skies, in my opinion.
