to lift or not to lift....

i just bought a 08 trd sport.... with the extended warranty and i want to lift it so bad..3", its just the whole warranty issue that is making me hold back. I have already been reading a whole bunch of threads on here about this and about the law that the dealer cant void ur warranty unless they can actually prove the lift is what caused it but im still not sure on the whole deal.. if i do get the 3" lift is it going to cause any parts to where down quicker than if i didnt get it and also what are all of your experiences with lifts and the dealer with warranty... thanks in advance

 

Lift it! I've been at the dealer twice for warranty work (interior issues though) and they didn't say a thing.

Got Lift up front. Dealer did TSB in rear and still alligned my truck to spec knowing the spacers were up front. They even noted it on service slip. All under warranty.

well i definetly dont want to spend that much... im more in the market for something around $300, so the question is what is the best thing i can get for that that is not going to hurt my truck even if it is not 3"...

 

so all i have to get is those and i can adjust my ride height 2.5"? i dont know much about this whole suspension deal

 

i work at a dealership and do warranty repairs. if you lift it and there is a problem in the suspension they will probably say its caused by the lift just because car makers are cheap and dont want to pay for anything and it depends on if they feel like working a little extra to get it covered. but everything not related will be covered.

 

are these bilstein 5100's alot better than the stock bilsteins that you get with the trd package?

 

I actually went down and asked the service manager at a local toyota dealer if a lift would void my warranty. He told me that as long as the job is done right by a professional company, it would not void the warranty. He gave me the name of a national chain where they actually install lifts for the dealer.

 

Question I have is why would anyone pay so much extra ($1000) for another 1/2 inch of lift if they can accomplish 2.5 inches of it by simply changing shocks?

I guess I dont understand the whole lift process myself.

so do you think the 5100's are reliable or are they going to sh*t the bed pretty quickly if they have any sort of abuse?

 

They wont shit the bed, I have them in the front with the 886 coils and so far so good. The bilstein shocks are good shocks, sometime soon ill probably replace my rears with the 5125 or the 5150's. What else are you going to do, or are you just going to use the 5100's for a 2.5" lift or something? Sorry if you said before I havent really read the whole post, my bad.

 

yah i plan on using them for a 2.5" lift.. what do you thing of that... and are the stock coils fine for this?
