Need help removing my oil filter

    Another thing with stuck filters is to get as close to the mounting surface of the filter as possible and try from there.

    Otherwise the oil filter body can twist and start using some of the torque needed to unscrew the filter. Usually you can get them loose by doing this.

    I had the same issue. whoever puts those things on at the factory is a real comedian.

    also the oem filter installed
    at the factory has a different pattern on the end and does not use the same cap wrench as a mobile 1, k&n or wix filters. at least on the 2.7L.

    Glad you got it done, OP.

    Anyone who reads this: FYI, I recommend NOT doing the screw driver technique. I once had a filter on so tight that the I literally ripped the filter in half from the inside with the screw driver (couldnt believe I was that strong haha). You then end up with a truck that won't hold oil and have to get it towed. Not fun.

    hahahha omg ive been runnin that technique for several years now and have not only had that happen to me, but never heard of it. that would suck so bad though. i wonder how the shop got it off a that point...
