head lamp shine direction?

on my headlights on my 07 tacoma trd, my drivers side bulb shines up and my passenger side shines down to the ground. are they suppose to shine in different directions?

Yes they are supposed to be oriented that way - it is a feature to alert aircraft and to your approaching truck thereby averting possible tragedies when choosing a roadway to perform and emergency landing on at night. I have gone further and reoriented both of mine upwards in hopes of confusing migrating birds.

OK, of course I'm not being serious here. Just some good fun... to be helpful, it is a simple alignment thing and easy to adjust yourself. There is a screw that adjusts the vertical angle. Here is a how to

 

mine are socket bolts ,there is no where to put a screw driver, i adjusted and got them even by socketing back and forth using bottom alignment thingy,and watching them shine on wall, but being even now , one is still brighter then the other

 

Make sure both bulbs are in there correct. Maybe the clip came undone or broke.

 

i did find a link in here, says get a piece of paper and draw lines and what not, i went left to rt and up and down and can not get it to equal brightness as the other one.could one bulb be brighter then the other? maybe i need a new bulb, yea that is what i found wolfpack, thanks though for helpin me search, at least they are shining in same direction now and not one cok eyed out in the woods while drivin down the road but did let me see deer really well on edges of the forest. lol

X2. Mine were aimed all crazy; the bulbs were not seated correctly with the clips.

 

ok clip doesnt even work good, i bought aftermarket blacked out lamps, and they are just shoddy

 

OK, that explains it - I was assuming stock OME parts.

 

Duh. Ouch! What was I thinking - why is OME always on my mind? It's a curse or something.

I found some headlight adjusting procedure that says to vigorously apply 100 grit to the lens. How is that supposed to fix the headlight focus and aiming? That doesn't sound right...

 

I think the "wet sanding" is for restoration of headlights that have become dull from minor scratches and sun a=damage, etc. I can bet my truck that it is not a meaningful approach to headlight alignment.

What you need to do is apply a liberal coating of "OME" to the headlights. Reapply as necessary. The 885 is the best. May need to replace you UCA to get proper alignment? But hey, oyur lights will be great.

OK, all kidding aside. It is just a screw you turn. If you can't do that then you should take it to the dealer. They love that sort of work. Quick money!

Any shop can do that for you.

But all you need is a screwdriver. I drive to a shopping center parking lot at night and drive in facing a building strait on in a level parking area and do the deed.

10 minute job.
