I haven't hunted in over ten years, don't plan on doing much more and had been thinking about getting rid of some rifles and shotguns. I also haven't been doing any dong distance target shooting and when I do my #1 son has a new McMillan .338 that shoots much better than anything I had.

My son and two of his freinds came over to look and between the three of them I now own a single bolt action rifle (pre '68 Winchester 70 in 30-06) and I'm down to a Bushmaster AR .223 as my only semi-automatic rifle. Between the Bushmaster and my Remington 870 Marine Express for close up and the Winchester for longer range I have enough working guns for the apocalypse or the aftermath of a hurricane, whichever comes first.

Thinking about getting a Ruger 10/22 Target rifle for plinking at 4 cents a shot.

Question I have is that I have not done a private sale in forever. Do I need to run these through a FFL or can I deliver them directly to the buyers?

That depends on your state, here in Montana, I can buy sell and trade any weapon private party without telling Obama!

No need to do an FFL unless crossing FL state lines.

I always do a bill of sale with buyer/seller info (DL#, Address, etc) just to protect both sides.

Thanks, guys. I thought I was OK with an in-state sale but knew some of you would have the definitive answer.

Then check gunbroker.com for market value on that puppy- might be worth something serious.

It was handed down to me as #1 son and it will go to #1 son when I'm gone. All's he has is one daughter. Guess she better learn to shoot!
