is it just me but it looks like a lot of those windshield noises complaint are coming from the west coast. I have a 2011 dcsb with about 2k miles on it that was built in San Antonio. I haven't heard any noises yet. Do you guys think it was where it was manufactured at?

People with zero concept of the windshield issue seem to believe the complaint is about exterior wind noise and this being a complaint about the sound deadening qualities. This is not the case. Its an issue of the windshield seal being installed with little to no sealant causing a loud interior noise. Read through the thread before popping in and running your suck about something you know nothing about. Nobody is expecting a mercedes simply a vehicle that is put together properly is not too much to ask.

    Hi All,

In my case my Tacoma was built in Texas. Also like I have experienced that noise only once, it was while I was driving on the highway at 55 mph with a strong crosswin. I did not experience the noise since then. Anyway, I decided to have the seal redone on the winshield. The guy at the dealer accepted to do it even if I can not have them listen to the noise. But he kind of suggested to think about it, removing the original seal??? So maybe they know about this issue and that forum tells me there is an issue. So I will take a chance and have the dealer replaced the seal. In my opinion a vehicle of $35K or so should not be sold with improper winshield seal. My old Tacoma that I had for 11 years never made any noise like that and even if you can have a tough ride, which comes with good offroad qualities, you don't have to accept anoying noise even if it is a truck.

    Claude,

    Until next time,

They have had my truck for 3 weeks now trying to figure out how to stop the noise. Replace seal twice at a glass company and the glass company (I was told) said they could get the window to sit right. I was told they have a call into corporate to send an engineer down to see if he can figure out a fix. Giving them 10 more days and then filling a lemon law claim. It doesnt have to be a safety issue if its been in the shop more than 30 days from what I understand. We shall see. I like the truck, but it has be a big PITA since I bought it. Give me my money back and I will buy the Jeep I was torn between when I bought this POS.

It appears the replaced seal and actully using window sealant (something toyota failed to do) has fixed mine, at least for now. Hopefully it doesnt re-surface again. Of course I paid out of my own pocket.

Billy 5100's all around. Otherwise, the truck is OLD and STOCK.
OP, you have every right to be pissed. Posters on here saying, "its a truck, its supposed to be loud," have no clue as to how annoying that sound is. Toyota quality control seems to have gotten worse throughout the years of the 2nd gen, as it seems more of these problems are coming from late model 2nd gens and TSB's also seem to have increased as well. I drove my 97 4x4 V6 to over 250k miles for 11 years and it was as solid as it was when I bought it. Now I'm having to replace front wheel bearings at 47,000 miles on my 05, and people are trying to convince me that it is normal. Toyota is starting to lose some very loyal customers.

Yea I had a first gen that was rock solid as well. Now I feel a little creeped out thinking whats going to go wrong with this thing next and where will I be stranded. haha. I like the truck its just obviously left a bad taste in my mouth that will undoubtedly go away over time provided no more issues crop up.

Yeah, and I spend about 6 hours a day 5-6 days a week in my truck, usually at cruising speed. Play the videos in this thread that people have posted. its annoying as shit. I didn't bat an eyelash when I heard it. Took it to the dealer and got it fixed. Some people in here paid $34k for their tacos. Mine barely scratched $22k OTD and I still didn't put up with it.

Not every one keeps their tacos in the garage, mods the hell out of it and only takes it out to the cliffs on sunday with their brahs

You will have a lot worse problems with a jeep. Just a fair warning.

Not neccessarily sometimes you get a good vehicle and sometimes you don't. I have never heard a jeep's windshield whistle like a kazoo and I have owned three of them. However I did have other problems but all got fixed and not always out of my own pocket. The point of this thread is if you spend 30k+ on a truck and literally 2 weeks later you have a windshield that makes such an annoying sound AND you have a TSB for previous years detailing the problem AND the service tech aknowledges the problem AND they try to fix it AND it doesnt get fixed, they should not just tell you to take a hike because what they did didn't fix the problem. I spent 150 bucks of my own money to fix what was CLEARLY a problem caused by Toyota not installing my windshield correctly. There was almost NO sealant on the windshield seal and this is AFTER they supposedly sent it to a windshield shop to have more sealant added!

Toyota is producing an inferior product and not standing behind the product when it fails. The Japs are laughing at us silly Americans who buy their garbage expecting a product superior to what we have at home only to find out we have been duped!

I suppose as consumers, Americans will always take it in the ass. We can't build shit right and neither can anyone else but then what is the incentive to? We have people like some of the fine folks on this forum who are more than happy to accept crap and will just "fix it themselves" So cut the price of the vehicle and sell it "as is" no warranty buy at your own risk and fix it yourself.

Got my Kazoo back today... Love my dealer... Not to rub salt, but they replaced the seals on the doors and around the windshield for me at no charge. So far so good and it was windy today so it was a good test (except for the tape around all the seals...lol). I also had the windshield replaced while they had it since it was pretty much trashed after 60K miles. I am hoping whatever they did is a long term fix. The service advisor said if I hear the noise again to just bring it back and they would make it right. In this case a dealer can make all the difference. I was a little concerned since this was the first Toyota I have owned in almost 20 years and that noise was going to drive me nuts. Much better service then I get from my GM dealer...

I feel ya pain bro. It's not like you bought it knowingly it was making that sound. And for those that says it's a truck not a luxury. Your wrong. Maybe you never own one but I do own a 2007 Lexus IS350 and my dash board rattle like a biyatch! And yes we do have a tsb but that did not fix it. Same thing with my previous 2004 GS.
