I hear a lot of bad things about Nitto's and have heard nothing but good things about the Duratracs. Nitto's seem more like a "bro" tire to me... can tires be "bro"? I just see a lot of OC bro trucks with Nitto's lol

Don't like the noise and hated the mpgs the first yr/10k miles. Love the looks and performance on and offroad and 20.1 and 20.2 mpgs last two tanks with warmer temps. AlwAys tradeoffs, and gambled and won. I'd buy em again. Loved the two sets of Nitto Terra graps Ive had as well. If you want more aggressive looks than A/T, but not the huge weght penalty of MTs then DTs are the best. And yes narrower tires should help mpgs. Make sure you get load C rated and not heavy ass Es or they'll killmpgs, very heavy.

I cant comment on the duratracs, but I recently chose the Hankook dynapro ATM over them, and they were fantastic in the snow over the winter. Mud performance will be tested this summer. I went up to 265/70/17 and my MPG's did not seem to suffer. I erred on the side of caution and got them in a P series instead of LT- cheaper, lighter, and I don't do any hardcore off roading. During the snow i did run over a curb at about 15 mph and the tires took it great; no damage to them. I think an LT tire is excessive for a 4000lb v6 truck, unless you are off road a lot. I got them from discount tire direct shipped for $519, and they have a 60k tread warranty. I would like a more aggressive look sometimes, but they really look better in person than in pictures. The treadwear, cupping, howling, MPG's and price of M/T's are not worth the look. If you really need the traction, you don't really have a choice I guess.

Ill admit I didnt treat my duratracs all that well but I will say I never burned out or white smoked them or things like that. I took turns slightly faster than I should maybe but not screeching them. I KNOW I didn't drive like an asshole enough for them to be dead at 14k mi. it seems that they last longer up north because the duratracs soft rubber compound doesnt do well in hot climates

I don't like them because they are the best a/t tires out there.

yeah i do alot of things that knock it off:cool:

know that i am on a computer and not my phone i can type a better responce.

the durafails are honestly pretty damn good tires. my only issue with them was how fast they wore down. but while they had good traction i was very impressed with there offroad capabilities. i did alot of driving down muddy roads in 2wd and they propelled me through some crazy shit:eek: i also did alot of higher speed driving down gravel roads(no concrete underneath all small fine gravel) the tires would grip pretty damn hard up to about 45mph. at 50mph you had a decent amount of slide but still very controlable. they have great dirt/offroad traction in general. sometime it shocked me how well they did. i could keep up with my friend 09 dodge 4x4 everywhere execpt for steeper hills.

on road traction was Meh. they are pretty good in dry weather but once it gets wet youd best stay off of the skinny pedal...they will start spinning in a second (open diff no lsd)

like i said all this was noted in about the first 5k miles....then the tread start dissapearing before my eyes....

but then again they fail at tread life sooooo

you seem to be the only one with bad tread life though, what do you think it could be? "lemon" tires maybe?

i doubt it. i got a razor blade through one of the tires and got it replaced about 10k miles in. still getting the same tread life. still cant figure out why i got bad tread life...

Great discussion so far, thanks....its giving me a ton of insight on where to go?

I've read similar threads where some dura trac owners discuss "wandering" on road at highway speeds. Anybody have thoughts on that??

What would you recommend for a guy who's driving 85% on road (my daily driver), 15% off road yet also will make a couple long highway trips from Portland to Montana and back throughout the year??

i knew i was forgetting to mention something. i currently have the duratracs on the front still and they have maybe 4or 5/32nds left and they wonder pretty bad at highway speeds. they truck just feels very floaty i guess you could call it. if the wind is blowing its just about down right dangerous....not sure what results others are getting....i didnt know other people were saying they wondered. i just thought it was part of my durafail back luck streak...
