I'm sure those reading this thread can answer this.

I was recently looking for a TRD 2007-2009. I did an extensive search in the western US. I probably searched 2-300 ads.

I found an ad for one in middle CA, it was a TRD, but with a 4 cyl. engine. I called the guy and told him he must have been mistaken. He double checked and said it was a 4 cyl. I suggested somebody put some aftermarket stickers on it. He said it had the Bilsteins as well. Maybe it had the offroad package installed on a 4 cyl. Taco. Then I remembered that Bilsteins came on other Tacos too, just not the same ones used on the offroad package.

I'm not dissing this guy, he seemed to think he might have a rigged truck on his hands, but offering a standard truck as a TRD puts it in a different value range and an unfair advertising ploy.

    What do you think?

2011 AC SR5 4x4 LSD no TRD here.

According to my build sheet it has LSD as standard equipment. Toyota's website shows that an LSD is standard on the 4x4 SR5. Why do some members say that a non-TRD SR5 4x4 with an LSD is rare? Was the LSD not standard on earlier Tacos?

At the end of the day this is the right answer. You have to get what you need and want. If you spend all your time worrying about what others think about your own personal decisions, which effect no one other than yourself, you might as well stay in bed.

I agree completely. It is what works best for you. Who buys a truck with the sole purpose to build/use it how other people would like it?

I think you would be surprised at the answer......:D I think a lot of people care how their trucks look to others.

A lot of "Do you think this will look good?" questions and threads

I'm sure this is a regional thing. When I went to buy my Taco in Colorado, I only spotted about 3 base models compared to about 20/25 TRD models, even a few TX models. I bet dealers in Chicago, St. Louis, etc have the opposite inventory.

So many fake TRD trucks out here that I kind of laugh when I see one anymore. I saw a Sequoia with a satoshi grill and TRD emblem on the bottom right. The grill looked good but come on now. I would love to have the bits that come with the TRD stuff, but the aftermarket has the answer to all of that. I am happy that I have 4WD more than anything though.

I could do without the TRD package. But I bought used. The only thing I really prefer is the truck sitting higher in traffic. Thats about it. If I were to buy new it would be a silver access cab with naked fender flares and I would get it lifted it to TRD height. All the other TRD stuff I could live without. Especially the AT tires. Don't need em here.

I like the brawnier look and stance of the 4WD off road vehicle but don't need the function. I guess thats what Toyota marketing decided as well because they have been selling a lot of Pre Runners for a lot of years with and without TRD packages

I bought the TRD but would have been more than happy with an SR5 w/ the LSD. Next time I would get the base 4.0l model and just order the extras I had to have.

I have the TRD but wish I had never wasted my money on that garbage. Standard SR5 woul dhave been better, I could have done way better on the suspension myself with aftermarket parts.

I really like that two tone truck above this post.

I had a 2006 DC Prerunner basic (not even SR5).

I have a 2011 DC TRD Sport Prerunner now.

In the end, I should have kept the 2006 and supercharged it. Now I can't afford to SC my new one ;(

2011 4x4 DCSB TRD OR here, I actually could have gone for an SR5 4x4 just fine, but the price difference wasn't too much. I figured getting the TRD package would keep its higher resale better later on. I haven't used 4LO, the locking rear, or the A-TRAC and will probably never need to.
