Hey khfactor, I'm going to try to get the tsb done and Faulkner is also my dealership. I am going to call the 800 number and set it up now that the Holidays are over. Thanks for the info.:D

Before you call the 800 number, make sure to get a copy of the TSB printed out that spells out what vehicles & components are included in the TSB. By your signature, I see your Taco is 2007 4-cyl and I do not know if this is covered. Better to get the full TSB ( the TSB can be found in the sticky section of the POSTs) and be prepared to provide the necessary answers when the Toyota 800 operator asks for detail.

Joann was my POC at Faulker in Trevose, PA. I also got the TAILGATE TSB done via Joann. She just punched up on her computer for the Tailgate and ordered me a newer, allegedly a beefed up Tailgate (I do not see the difference, BTW) for my Taco. They painted the TAILGATE to my truck color (included as part of the TSB, of course).

I wrote a letter to her manager about her customer care service and she was ecstatic when I picked up my truck......

Good luck, and come back to post your experience at Faulkner....:)

Just got back from my dealer. Handed the service guy the TSB report and the ass didn't even bother to look at it since i got it off the internet. Set up an appt to get it checked out on Wednesday morning, if they don't do it I'm gonna call the customer service number and talk to them about it.

So I just dropped mine off to get the TSB installed but I have a question. On the paperwork it says that they replace the front and rear shocks also. so 1st question is this true. and if so then why did the guy tell me they were only doing the rear. If they only do the back should I take it in and have them do the front also?

Well they did all 4 corners but I didnt get a printout of the alignment. Crap. Well I guess if it is out of alignment and my tires wear prematurely then I'll just have to get some bigger ones :)

Well I got my 06 Taco back today after the dealer replaced the transmission and leaf springs. But I don't think the right work was done.

Not to mention I still have shifting issues(that'll be another thread), there are still only three leaf springs as before and now they are pretty flat. Towards the front end they're actually bowed down and I think my truck sits a little lower in the rear. I had snow in the bed which has now melted so I didn't measure the height before taking it in.

The spring assembly #'s are 48220-04190 on the drivers side and 48210-04550 on the passenger side.

Did this "fix" just make my problem worse? Any ideas?

I had my 09 done this week at Fayetteville Auto ParK in Fayetteville, AR. They did not argue and got it right the first time. Mine originally had the 3 leaf pack and the replacement is a 4 leaf and looks exactly like the photos above. WOW, what a difference. The truck sits different, rides different (better) and it does not wander around the road like it did. This could also be due to the fact that I also had a right front coil over that was squeaking and was not assembled correctly (per the dealer) and they replaced it; however, no more wandering the road. I could not be happier !!!:)

PREVIOUS PART NUMBER...............CURRENT PART NUMBER......................PART NAME QTY
......48210-04550..........................48210-04570..............Spring Assembly Rear , RH Leaf Spring 1
......48220-04190..........................48220-04210..............Spring Assembly Rear, LH Leaf Spring 1

They replaced your springs with the same thing that was already on your truck. Yours is not the first though, it has happened to many. Print out the TSB and take it to them and do their job for them by showing them what to order........be kind and respectful......

    Welcome to TW btw!!

I find it hyper-Ftarded for known to be shit 3 leaf packs still being put on in 2009 when they've sucked since 2005........Not impressive. I think Toyota's turning American.............

Whether you like it or not, their job is to sell trucks. If you test drive a Tacoma against another make, this (the ride) is going to figure in to the decision to the majority and the truck buying masses want a truck without necessarily needing a truck.

I suspect its a dollars and cents approach by Toyota to reach as many potential buyers and offer a way to make up the difference (tsb) to those that are actually looking to use a truck like a 'truck'.

My guess is that the amount of rear spring re-dos they end up doing is worth the extra trucks they sell due to the 3-leaf test drive / ride.

It may have been dollars & cents approach in 05 or 06 until complaints about not being able to use the truck as a truck started rollin in. 07,08,09 is just complete bullshit & IMO, it's not just an inconvenience thing but a safety thing that should be a recall not a tsb regardless of how the truck is going to be used by the purchaser. Just fucking lame......but it is a mainstream accepted sign of the times. It just sucks no matter why or how many people don't even notice, just like the asswipe motor mount thing for 6 cyl. Explain that one the same way. Maybe some customers like when their motors fall out of the truck right? BS!
