Questions about OME Dakar Lift Springs

I’ve got an ‘04 regular cab Tacoma that last March I installed Daystar’s 2.5" front coil spacers on the front & 1.25" lift shackle in the rear with some 32x11.50x15 BFG All-Terrains & it looked great then the rear started sagging. Funds were low at the time so that played a factor in the cheap spacer lift. I measured from tire to fender on the front & rear & the rear sagged around a inch lower than the front. This past month I came across a 31x10.50x15 that I swapped out with the original spare so I could have something better then a 225x75x15 if I needed to use it, well that seemed to cause the truck to sag an additional .75 - 1" so now I’m sitting roughly 1.75 - 2 " lower in the rear. I first considered just throwing some longer shocks under the rear with a 2" block but have since reconsidered since with any weight in the bed now it’ll make it sit sag even worse so a block wouldn’t be helping anything.

I don’t carry much in the bed of the truck the majority of the time but would like to be able to carry my 4wheeler(around 500lbs) occasionally during hunting season & not make it squat until the tires nearly rub. Is this too much to ask for any rear spring setup for a Tacoma?

I figure a new spring pack would be the best way to go & have been looking at OME Dakars(2.25" lift) as a nice alternative. Should I keep the Daystar lift shackle if I were to go with the Dakars or go back to the original shackles? If I were to keep the lift shackles with the Dakars then on paper that would be 3.5" total lift for the rear(2.25 dakars + 1.25 lift shackle), figuring the Dakars would settle some so that would might lower it to 3" maybe? I haven’t seen a figure as to how much weight the Dakars are supposed to be able to carry either but have read a lot of good things about them.

I’ve also looked at All-Pros 3" Expedition springs that claim to sit 4" when the truck is unloaded & advertise as being able to support 400-500 lbs while maintaining the 3" of lift but haven’t been able to find many reviews or input regarding them.

Is there any other spring packs that I should consider or just go with the Dakars with the Daystar lift shackle that I already have or leave the lift shackle off?

 

i have dakars and i carry my stunt bike and my fifty and it sags like an inch maybe... im gonna get 6 inch TG shackles soon for more lift... however long ur shackles are, half of that is the lift youll get.

 

Yea I expect some sag & had read that the Dakars could handle some weight but I've never seen a figure posted of just how much they could handle. I'm mainly just wanting the truck to sit level again but it would be a bonus if they could handle the weight of an atv once in awhile, if not its not a problem pulling my small trailer.

 

a deaver 10 pack with stock length shackles would be all youd need. if you ever wanted to you could add some shackles to it but youd only be gaining articulation and lift no carrying capacity. youd also have to pick up a set of shocks sized accordingly,10'' short bodies would work fine.

 

I've had the OME Dakar's with stock length shackles on my '04 extended cab for 4 years now. I had a half ton of dirt in the back this past summer without issue and would have comfortably put at least a couple hundred more pounds in the back. It was still several inches away from the bump stops (of course I don't expect to hit the stock bump stops with the lift but it was far enough away to make me feel like it wasn't overloaded). I just went out and measured and I'm sitting at 24" from center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender flares at each corner to give you an idea of how much they might settle over time. I have been very happy with them.

 

I'm getting the dakars soon. Wondering if ext brake lines are really necesary, and also if an angle axle shim or CB drop would be wise. Thanks for input.

 

I didn't get the extended brake line. You can bend the bracket where the line connects to the line coming along the frame from up front and get enough slack.

 

UP TO U ON THE BRAKE LINES. MINE WAS VERY TIGHT AT FULL FLEX. SO I GOT EXTENDED

 

Ok, well I just ordered the leafs , but held off on the rear brake lines. Guess I'll first go see if my 5100's limit the leafs before it interferes with brake lines. Also, did you do muffler relocater? Seems kinda silly, if it's that big of deal I'll just get out the sawzall... EXCITED!!!!

FYI - the magnaflow catback will work with any lift without modification since it routes over the springs instead of under.

I was just throwing it out there. I've got the full catback from magnaflow with the OME springs and it works fine since the magnaflow routes over the springs instead of under.

 

Impressive....i guess...would like to see a pic of the leafs with all that on there, but it seems that would be hard to duplicate
