The OP is thinking 5100's vs just the OME 885 coils on the stock shocks.

This would be ideal in keeping costs low. Although at this point it looks like these coils need to be used in conjunction with their struts/shocks to get max performance. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I haven't tried this combo yet, but i do have both (885's sitting in garage). 5100's would be at the lowest setting. Others have said the ride is a little stiffer.

Yes for max performance the 885's should be matched with OME shocks.

Which would provide a better ride?

5100s set to 2.5 with stock spring

    or

5100s set at bottom (stock) setting with 885 springs

Again the OP is thinking about getting 5100's or just getting the OME 885 coil springs to go over stock shocks.

Ah...If thats the question, then get the 5100's, as they are better valved for the stock springs. The 885's will ride horrible on the stock shocks.

My truck has the 885's on stock shocks and total chaos UCA's and rides great (stiff, but that's how a truck should ride IMHO). I will be putting 5100's on all four corners of my girlfriends truck (with stock coils) this weekend. I'll let you know how it rides.

You should try them with the N140s shocks. :D

I installed the 5100's (all four corners) over the weekend and then had it aligned. I must say the ride is awesome. As good as or better than the ride with the TRD shocks and 885 coils. I set the 5100's to 1.75"

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
It's probably a better idea to use OME coils on Bilstein or OME shocks.

Running OME coils on stock TRD shocks is not recommended.

sorry if this is a stupid question, but im new to all this, and im looking at the 5100 and 885 combo for my 2011 dc 4wd. seems like theres so many different ways to set it up. im looking to work toward a 3 inch lift is there any down side to using 5100 front and rear with 885s and setting the 5100 to 2.5 is it just going to affect ride quality? and as far as lift goes it seems like that will be achieving about the same thing as a 2.5 leveling kit. not a true 3 inch lift...

DO NOT use the 885's with the bilstiens on a setting other than 0".

Because the 885's are a higher spring rate, and a bit longer. If you preload them, you will have no down travel, ball joints could break.

Use your stock springs in the meantime and set the 5100's at highest setting. Will be a little rough though, mine are at 1.75 and pretty stiff over stock or the OME set up.
