hello all, new member here:D, have a 2007 tacoma i bought a couple months ago. when you pop the hood release, the hood does release, but doesnt pop up enough to get your fingers in to pull it up:confused:, just about have to pry a finger in to pull up a little, it doesnt have the little spring in the center of the hood like most, and the dealer says it doesnt have one, just wondering if any of the rest of you have one on yours, or if your hoods do that too, thanks

    getting there....
make it easy on yourself, just go in right thru the upper part of the grill to open the hood after you have released it........i guarantee you it will work everytime, unless you have an aftermarket grill and cant get thru there. then you will have to keep opening the hood till the spring stretches a little bit. try going thru your grill first though! hope this helps!!

small dent on the hood, new foglight bulb, roughed up bedliner, been smoked in, suspicious stains on the passenger seat, boogers on the drivers seat, dirty floor mats, girl doodles on the dirty windows, loose wiring
there has to be some way to adjust the lever or the safety thing that keeps the hood from flying up when you pull the release. i'd just tinker with it for a few minutes and try to make an adjustment or see if there are marking on the assembly that would indicate that a part is catching somewhere on another part, preventing it from popping up like it should. if you see a piece thats worn or scratched up, chances are it either needs to be trimmed a little or something needs to be slightly bent and it should work much better

Hey TuRD (for short! !!):D Thanks for the insight on the latch thing! ! It got me thinking so I went out and took a closer look and found that the illegals in the Southern CA. factory when the built my Taco TuRD evidently ran out of grease that day! !! The latch was BONE DRY! ! I just put a little on it and Bingo! !! it works fine! ! !

    THANKS

i didnt even think about the grease thing but at least what i said was enough for you to take another look at it and find what was wrong haha, i must be some type of miracle whip/worker :D glad you got your hood latch working properly tho! hopefully everybody with the same problems will see this thread so they can stick some grease on the latches

Didnt find anything yet, but like most hoods that have a spring on the hood in the middle to help it up in this instance, i did notice a screw hole in my hood, but no spring, the grease thing sounds good im going to try it, how do they expect you to do maintenance when you have to pinch your fingers to get the hood open

i think they were counting too much on the fact that it's a toyota and by the time you'll have to replace something in the motor, the hood will have rusted away years ago haha
