It really is personal preference. I drive a manual, but they are torture in bumper to bumper traffic!! I think that the manual gives me a little more control in snow too, with my truck being a 2wd.

glad to see manual is winning! This is my second forum I have posted this on, and the JeepForum members favored manuals too. Glad to see the majority of us Taco owners are the same!

Manual i actually feel like i am driving not just pushing buttons. Sometimes i wish i had an auto when im stuck in a rock garden trying to clutch and brake. Or in traffic

then i see stuff like this and love having a reliable stick shift. If you treat you stick right you know it will work when you need it to.

Manual for sure. I just like the control, cheaper repairs and more fun to drive. Compared to my dads 93' toyota pickup my 07' shifts like butter. And people are really impressed when they see someone as young as I am (16) driving one. ;)

Auto because I can't believe Toyota screwed up and developed a 6-speed that actually gets worse mileage than the auto. First time I've EVER seen an auto do better than a manual. Too many manual guys getting really shitty mileage. It sucks actually.

    5 spd FTW! Love mine.

It bothers me the number of people that can't drive a manual...made both my boys learn and take their driver license practical in a manual. Guess I'm just anal like that. When I was stationed in the UK (USAF) we'd have folks come in TDY(temporary duty). We'd get them vehicles from TRANS (motor pool) to use while they were with us...most vehicles were manual (European thing)...alway frustrated me when they'd say "I can't drive a manual"...to be prepared in this world...learn to use a clutch.

OK, rant over! Sorry about that.

personally I think it should be required that people learn to drive stick before they get their license, one thing for sure it would likely keep a lot of bad drivers off the road.

The more people that learned how to drive one, the less superior I'd feel though :(

true but still, my friend went to Europe here a few weeks ago and he said most all cars there are manual, I just love them so much I guess I want to see more people driving them lol! 70% of cars sold in the US are auto, 20% are manual which is sad. I bet those numbers are getting lower each year too

I prefer manuals but in Hawaii all there is is constant traffic so I went with an auto. But my Trans Am Ws6 was a manual. Nothing loke having 320HP and actually being able to use it. Definitely miss that car.

Prefer a manual. But since the wife can't drive one I went with the auto in this truck. That way she can drive it if needed.

I would have gotten a manual in the Tacoma if all the folks on this site did not like them in 09.....but I will just settle with the manual in the Corvette sitting in my garage:D

Auto. Because I just don't feel like messing with a clutch in traffic anymore.
