2007 Tacoma blk rims/pressure sensors?

I am looking to put black rims and a more aggressive tire on my 2007 toyota Tacoma, but I am having troubble finding a black rim that I can use. And how do you deal with the pressure sensors on the tire stems??? Has anyone done this yet?? Do you have pics?? I am willing to do a 2" spacer to accommodate the tires. I would like to keep with 16" tires. Help???

 

Have you checked wheels out at tirerack.com? You can price them with TPMS...I think it runs over $400 for a set.

I don't know what it takes to transfer a set of monitors over to new wheels. If you do get a new set of monitors, they have to be "introduced" to the vehicle; the owners manual refers you back to the dealer for that "service"...

 

You ever thought of powder blasting/coating the existing wheels black?

One of the guys I know did that on his black 05 Taco...anything that wasn't black got sprayed (wheels, grill). Looks great.

 

Don't be scared of the little light coming on in the dash if you don't have the sensors in the tires. It's no big deal. I never even notice it.

 

I found some very cool wheels on 4wheelparts.com, you may want to take a look there see if that might help. I also looked on tiresdelivered.com. Hope that helps

Guess it depends on what you're looking for....have you thought abought the black rims that come on the FJ Cruiser? They may be the same size, bolt pattern and offset as the Tacoma wheels....

 

I dont know what its like on the tacos but on audis to change over the sensors its a T20 torx bit and a 11mm socket and they are tightened to
4 newton meters of torque. very easy to change over next time i have to do it or i will look on our computer to see if i can get a drawing of it.

Well when i put on the trd sport wheels that did not have sensors the sensor did not line put right on the sport wheel. i took my sensors off the chrome wheels that they came the truck and b/c the trd sport wheels did not have sensors. now i have the nice little light. The grove where the sensor sits was not the same the guy putting the senor showed me how they did not line up.

 

The steel wheels (16" wheels) and the alloy wheels (17" sports wheels) use different TPMS sensors at different angles. But if you have steel stock rims and you buy steel aftermarket rims, the sensors may still work. If you buy alloys, you will need the sensors with the different angle. Otherwise, live with the little dash light on.

When I bought my rims, I had the shop- America's Tire Co- pull the sensors out of the stock rims (sport rims) and put them on my new alloys. They still do their job, and I didn't pay $500 for a set of new sensors that would then have to be dialed in to my truck.

I work at Discount Tire Co. and have learned alot about TPMS/Air Sensors lately. By this time next year, every new vehicle manufactured will be required to be equiped with TPMS (by federal law). Because of this, every recent wheel manufactured, (after market or stock) will be TPMS/Air Sensor friendly. TPMS= Tire Pressure Monitoring System. From personal experiance, never use spacers of any kind or size. Spacers creates resistance between the wheel and the hub of the vehicle which can cause "wheel offs" that can kill people.

LV2RIDE, check out E-bay, I just saw a couple of sets of black wheels that should fit. Good price too. I'd give you a link, but I'm mildly to severely retarded with those kinds of things.

 

or...you could just join the rest of us and paint your wheels for about ten bucks
