how have you guys done interior lighting?

For my friends' Subies I took apart their cubby under the climate controls that had a little light that turned on with the headlights. I cut the 12v wire and connected both ends to a 4-way wire connector. Then I used the other 2 holes to run wires to the LED strips on either side of the center consul. Extremely simple if you know anything about wiring.

 

Sounds pretty simple. I am a pretty quick learner when it comes to technical things. I am going to try and make a sketch and have it confirmed.

 

This may be an easier way to go. Can I add the add-a-fuse to any current fuse?

 

Which LED's for the Floor and which for the cup holders?\

leds hooked up to a switch and also to the door pin I used the dome light wire's

 

Which wires are you guys tying in to if you want them to only come on/off when you open the door?

 

That is if you want to wire it to a switch where you have to flip the switch for it to come on. The way I explained it comes on with your headlights. Theoretically you can use it on any current fuse. I haven't seen it not work but I don't know all the technical details of an add-a-circuit. I can still hook you up with some strips if you would like.

I am thinking about running everything in series.
add-a-fuse TO switch TO driver side under dash LED TO cupholders TO passenger side LED TO ground.

Anyone see any problem with this plan

 

So I tried this and didn't work.....

Potential problems:
-Switched Postive and Negative wires
-Try reversing the add-a-circut postion (not sure why but that's what is says on the box)
-Not enough amps to power the long string of lights

 

i just picked up the blue pilot LED light bars, add a circut, black rocker switch and other wiring stuff. they aren't very bright, but they do a nice job. i'll try to take some pictures tonight.

 

like i said they aren't very bright. just enough to my liking

 

As you can see in my pictures, my lights are brighter, but if you wanted, you can wire a dimmer to them or just a permanent resistor to dim it to your liking

 

but all that requires more work when mine are perfect the way they are.

 

No doubt Just offering some more options to others out there.

 

i might post up my lights. i got rid of the elwire cuz it was stupid and wire some 12" flex led bars and hid the wires so u cant tell there there

 

Yo guys whats up! I got everything I need for my LED install but Im having a difficult time trying to place them somewhere in the cab...I scratched the cup holder idea because I have an 08 reg cab manual, cup holders are attached to entire center console so I dont just want to drill through the whole console I was thinking about under the dash by the feet so it lights up the floor section? Or coming from under the actual bench itself shining into the floor foot section facing the feet basically opposite direction of the first idea. I have 4 radioshack 12v ORANGE LEDS...Let me know what you think thanks guys.

 

What kinda of guage do you have there under the a/c vent? that looks sweet!

 

Oh also Im pretty sure Im going to be running it from the climate control but just so I have this right the SOLID GREEN thin wire is power to my red wire from LEDS and WHITE AND GREEN thin wire would go to the black wire from my LEDS right?
