    Alright so time to start saving up and putting the 93 Yota 4x4 to some use.
    I'm thinking maybe go up to 38s? Maybe 40s with some/lots of trimming?
    All-Pro has a nice lift but its for solid axles and mine has IFS.

    Opinions? Suggestions?

    I doubt that ifs could handle those tires and you'd need some seriously huge drop bracket lift to even dream of clearing them.

    We just finished up Alex's front lift. Yep, we spent all day just on the front and didn't get to JK's sliders. I feel bad having him come over here and not getting to put them on.

    I can't say I've seen any suspension quite like Alex's. It was a coilover but it wasn't. The shock dropped out from the middle and the coil stayed between the bucket and lca. Needless to say, it was quite the experiment trying to get it to work. We fiddled with the idea of putting my old springs in there but I thought they might be too high of a rate and too long.

    well, everything premade either wouldn't work, or was insanely expensive, so i had to get the axle beam, spindles, and hubs all separately and cut/weld it up myself. the axle beam is 2''x2''x1/4wall box tubing. the spindles and hubs are rated for 2500 lbs each, so 5000lbs total. a little overkill since i won't ever load the trailer that heavy, but that just means the axle will fair better if it hits rocks or other stuff wheeling.

    here's the spindle pressed intot he tubing ready for welding. it's on facebook, but i can't remember if i posted it here yet or not

    take any pictures. i remember looking at her suspension when we were wheeling ocala.....it's a crazy setup for sure. it working alright now though?

    the other reason for making it myself was that it was a 2 week turnaround to have the trailer shop here make it, and i really wanted it for my long drive home. it looked dumb witht eh big structure on it with 17 inch tires :eek:

    many other parts of the trailer will break before the axle now though. not sure if that's good or bad yet though.

    true..... i think the leaf spring bolts and the ball coupler are the weak points right now, which is ok, because i have extra bolts, and the coupler assembly will be swapped out shortly

    Apparently even grade 8 bolts aren't too hard to bend. Alex's truck is very stubborn.

    I may have asked this earlier but I don't remember, are you going to go with a pintle hook?

    i was going to use a pintle, but for a good setup, i was coming up with a price just under $200
    they are super strong, but not great for highway driving, so i'd have to swap out for a normal ball and coupler when i do regular towing.

    i figure i might as well go for the max-coupler for an extra $30, and then i don't have to swap out for highway driving since there isn't any play

    We bent a grade 8 bolt prying on the lca to squeeze the spacer over the coil. It wasn't a bolt off her truck fortunately. It was one I had laying around from an electric scooter. It was basically the axle of the scooter.

    I remember you showing us that max-coupler thing but didn't realize you decided to go for it. That's slick. Get a locking hitch pin and you're set.
