Took my 08 Taco in for a recall service and the 'Stealer' said I needed to install new brake pads soon, I was down to 10% pad left and I also needed an injector service.
What is this 'injector service', is it just running some injector cleaner through the tank with the gas? I only have 40k on it so far. Thanks for any info.

If ya need injector service this early, you buy some dirty gas, or you're runnin the tank dry before fill ups. You shouldn't run your tank past a 1/4 tank due to burnin your fuel pump out any how. You can put injector cleaner in your tank to help clean out deposits, or you can have them do it. What they'll do is hook up a cleaner solution to drip into the fuel line as the truck is runnin to directly clean the injectors. With the right equipment any one can do this. So if your concern is price, tell them to give you their service quote then shop around other shops, like sears or jiffy lube ect ect. Your brakes are understandable, because toyota brakes suck. Switch to duralast gold and you'll notice a huge difference. Just be sure to either resurface the rotors or get new ones. Don't go cheap either. There is a huge difference between the economy rotors to the high end ones.

I usually don't go past 1/4th tank before fill up. I just had the rotors resurfaced (had a hitspot) about 5k ago before we left Commiefornia. I usually buy my gas at Sam's or AAFES Station and sometimes Stripes but that is about it. We are in San Angelo.

Chances are it's a dealer recommended service interval and the writer is trying to get an upsell.

This service is done with mixed results and various methods. I've used the system from BG with good results, especially on the GM Vortec with the poppet style injectors.

The BG system uses a pressurized canister and the engine runs off it instead of the vehicle fuel supply. I think this service is worth the money to have done every so often. I think 40K is probably a little early IMO.

But if the dealer is just mixing crap in your tank then don't waste your money.

They still got that restraunt called Zaparetas daughter or somethin of that nature. I stopped in while drivin through and got a huge effin burger. I used to live in Lago Vista near marble falls.

Any how, sounds like you're gettin good gas. And yeah the service writer is just tryin to make a livin. Ask how the clean the injectors, if it's like the previous poster said it's probably worth the $100 they charge

I'll check with them to see how they do it and what the cost is. It's Zentners Daughter and I ate there about 2 weeks ago. Food is still good. A place in Wall has all you can eat KC Steak on Thursday night, for $13.00 you get a huge serving of hand battered onion rings, salad, one beer or unlimited Tea, desert and the Steak which is the only 'all you can eat' part. The Steaks are tender (I like mine medium rare) and have a fantastic flavor. They cook them with some kind of butter garlic seasoning. It's called something like The Old Cotton Gin Restaurant. It's well worth the stop in anytime of the week.
