Yeah im gonna keep looking. I would be it used in pretty good shape. If I was a pro and trying to make a living off of it I'd put money into it more. But I cant see doing that unless I was pulling in good money from it.

It's an amazing lens for it's price and if you're on a budget. If you can spend a little bit more, you can find the 50 1.4 for like $350-400 used...

just get the grey market one... it's pretty much an expendable lens...

i would buy it new though unless you could find one used in great condition for half the price... $80 might still be too much to pay for it used...

Or if you need to sell any old equipment, sell it on POTN. You'll sell it in like 4 hours (or less).

I just got a 50mm and it's awesome. My first prime lens so it does take some getting used to. I've caught myself wanting to twist it to zoom but nothing was there. Great DOF and low light capabilities. The last 2 immages I posted (2 pages ago) are with the 50mm.

One other thing to take note of, the 50 1.8 is VERY slow at autofocusing, and will hardly ever focus in low light. So it'll be good practice for manual focusing.

If you were a pro looking for a 50mm, you might use the 1.8 but the 1.2 is where you'd want to be. There's quite a difference in build quality, performance and price between the two.

I like the 1.4 better than the 1.2.

Yeah I saw some 1.2s on ebay and they were anywhere from 500-1200 dollers.

im not sure i really get 1.2 that much yes in a 50 its way sick! BUT canons 85 1.2 is roughly $2200.00. i don't want a biased opinion from a canon shooter. But is it REALLY worth getting a 1.2 when its ONLY .44 of a stop faster than 1.4? because i used an 85mm 1.2 (briefly) and took some test shots with it. and came home and looked at them. i wasn't jaw dropping impressed. Not very sharp, loads of vignette, SLOW focus, like the slowest lens ive ever used, and miss focus alot, (its expected with 1.2) (i know canon doesnt make an 85 1.4) but idk...i am for sure not 100% sold when i could get pretty much the same results (if not sharper, faster focusing, and less vignette, AND about the same amount of bokeh) with nikons $1600.00 85 1.4, or Zeiss' 85 1.4 (wich is pure sex btw, even if its manual focus)

    Thoughts?
