With 1.75" up front...do I go 265/75/16 or 285/75/16??

Will be installing billy's at 1.75 with a 1.5 AAL in rear and will be using stock 16" wheels. What tire size should I go with. I don't mind doing a little trimming, I just don't want to be completely stuffing my wheel wells. I would like to have some articulation.

If I decide to go the smaller route, will I regret it if I ever want to go up to the 2.5" setting??

Was planning on going with the DuraTracs.

 

265-75-16. 285's will not fit without trimming.

 

One thing to consider, 285's will kill your MPG's.

 

especially considering those 285s only come in E range

also depends on your definition of a "little" trimming.

 

They'll fit! Just take off the mud flaps, take out a pocket knife and cut some of the inside of your bumber out that would touch the tire. (you'll never notice whats cut out from looking at it) then find a plasma cutter and chop off your cab mount! Sounds like a lot but its completely worth it. Your MPG's will drop a little too

 

265's the 285's won't fit unless you trim big time but then you won have any articulation like you want to, just do 265's alot guys have them with 2.5 up front and it still looks great IMO.

 

I see you said you're planning on using your stock wheels. From what I was told, you won't be able to fit 285's using the stock wheels because they will hit your UCA's. Just something to consider before you make your decision.

 

1.75 with 265/75/16 duratracs are what I'm running. I rub at full lock. Should be picks in my gallery if you want to see what it looks like

100% true, my neighbor has a 3" lift and his 285s on stock wheels definitely rub on his UCAs

 

Strange that yours rubs, I'm running 1.75" with 265/70/17 duratracs, with mud flaps on, and zero rubbing

 

could be that the sidewalls on the 265/75/16s are 1/2" taller than the 265/70/17s

 

Huh? Diameter is what matters, and those two tires are within 0.05" of each other....

 

I'm running 265 DTs with 1.75" billies and DC2s only minor plastic trimming. Check pics
