What Was Your Favorite Childhood Toy?

Oxymar00n's original thread titled {For us old people...} gave me the idea for another original thread topic possibly. OK, here goes. We're talking early childhood. Let's say between the ages of 4 thru 8. These are toys that you actually had. Let's also assume that we limited to those things our parents got for us at this age so "favorite" is a relative term.

 

Our responses will definitely date us. I'm trying to remember some of the earliest and I'm coming up with Weebles. Any of yall with me? "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down"...

The orange track for matchbox cars. It had a battery operated thing that would make the cars go around the track.

Yeah, I guess I was 3 or 4 as well. Hard to believe I can remember that far back!

 

Yeah shocking huh! And you can't remember what you had for dinner last week.

 

Oh yeah...and "never want to stop" was right. I played with that thing for hours it seemed!

 

I had a record player that closed up in a white plastic suitcase thing. I think it had a slide projector built in.

 

That was great til my dad beat my ass with em!!!!

Probably my everyday favorites at these ages were:

1) Matchbox Cars
2) Tonka Trucks
3) Army Men
4) Lincoln Logs

 

My version of legos, Were the scraps of wood my Dad had left over from building stuff. I think they call that blocks. lol

 

Yes to all. I still have my tonka & Matchbox cars, I passed them on to my Son. Now he will keep them & pass them to his kids. At 11 he is not into that anymore. It is all about the video game.

 

Board games: Monopoly,Clue,Sorry,Life,Parcheesi,chess,checkers,backgammon,Chutes & ladders,operation,candyland. What else?

A friend had one that was an oil rig game. I can't remember what it was called.

Man, I wish I had some of that stuff to give my 3 1/2 yr old son. I travelled down to many rough roads and lost it all. My parents didn't save any of it either! My wife doesn't have to much stuff either to pass on to our 2 yr old daughter...shame!

 

Sorry to hear that. My Son thought it was cool to play with toys that I played with at his age. When he was 3, I introduced him to PC games, Need for speed2.
A few years later, He asked me what video games I had when I was a kid. I told him we didn't until later when Atari came out with pong.

 

Yeah, some of those were probably coming into play around 7 or 8 I guess. But oh YES, loved them all. Let me see...Twister, Slip N' Slide, Mousetrap (about 3-4), Scrabble, Mad, Memory, I know there's more!

Risk was awesome later on!

Can't recall the oil rig game.

 

Yes slip n slide! In the summertime in GA. 100% humidity and in the 90's. Those slides just weren't long enough. You always would fly off the end in the grass.
